ParticipantDreger now reporting Tocchet likely to land a HC job now. Flyers, SEA, and BOS the likely contenders. As a Flyers fan at the present moment, BOS is closer to competing then the Flyers. McVoy, Pastranak, and Swayman is a foundation the Flyers currently do not have, just the reality. We’ll see if the Flyers just outbid everyone.

ParticipantIF Tocchet is the HC, I wonder who they convinced him would be his #1 goaltender. I find it hard to believe a HC, who at his age is probably his last stop would be satisfied rolling with Ersson as his #1 heading into his first season.

ParticipantFriedman on Tocchet and the Flyers: “It’s coming.”
Says Jay Woodcroft, Brad Shaw, Jay McKee were all interviewed.
With the exception of Lappy and Shaw, no coach is taking this job without reassurances they will upgrade the goaltending. Otherwise setting up for failure. Is there a more overrated coach than Tocchet? What has he accomplished? If he is hired the flyers will be strutting around like peacocks thinking they outsmarted everyone once again. Sadly this was likely the flyers plan from day 1 hiring Tocchet. What an original, boring, predictable, and path of least resistance hire/plan. Cant wait to e that smile on “jonesy” face when announced. Has any team wasted as much money on coaching the last 5 years with zero results?

ParticipantIf/when Tocchet gets hired, does he keep Shaw? Seems like VAN’s blueline was pretty effective without Shaw. Wonder if they sign Pius Suter as a stop gap center in free agency. Might be easier to sign him to a multi year deal, then Cates who looks like he wants to wait a year before signing multi term. My expectation is they trade for a goalie over trying to sign a UFA and hope for a good season.

Participantthe flyer felators will be out in full force if this hire happens. yes he made his coaching career outside of philly. that career is not good in any way. how can peeps try to rpo this guy up when you look at his track record.
genuine question, who has he coached under his tutelage that he turned into all star level players? did he help turn anyone’s career around? has he developed any late round picks into solid nhl players?
