A bit early to say if Kreider will fetch a first or not. If he is having a great year, maybe? Far from certain.

“They’re just prospects”, but you are also mad that Drury is trading picks which are just that, for proven players? Our D was a disaster last year. He addressed that. The new 2nd pair + hopefully a full year of Fox should result in a big improvement.

Did Drury show you his hand in the Doro trade? I didn’t see 1 person linking him to the NYR. And I thought that was a home run trade especially when you look at some other trades (like McTavish).

I thought the Trocheck trade was fair value, and from what I have read it seems we made out better by taking Greentree over the actual 1st we may have been able to get from LA if we didnt get him. He’s been incredible in the OHL

Overall, I thought Drury did a decent job this offseason and I am willing to give this team a chance before writing them off as non playoff contenders. I’ve also heard rumors that Drury is targeting another forward. Wonder who it could be

It’s not misleading IMO. Those deals, especially the Panarin and Trocheck deals should have included a 1st on top of the prospect. Because at the end of the day, they’re just that, a prospect. Drury showed his hand in every deal (when dealing players away) and the results speak for themselves. If ANA has a down season, do you think they won’t get a 1st at the deadline for Kreider?

We’ve depleted our draft capital and traded away valuable assets for Pennie’s on the dollar bc Drury announced to the entire league he wanted these players off his roster. No one is paying a premium when they know Drury wants them gone at all costs. Usually a bad business strategy to let the person you’re negotiating with know your plan.

I agree that not every trade has resulted in the best return. But to say we didn’t get any first round picks back in all of those trades is a bit misleading IMO. Liam Greentree & Cole Beaudoin are recent first round picks. So yes we didnt select them, but I am excited for both and think they deepen our prospect pool.

It sucks we dealt some future first round picks. Felt a bit like the Sather days lol. I do think this team is much more competitive than last year, though. I like Durzi & Petterson for our second pair and I think having two strong puck moving D men will be noticeable relatively quickly. I also think injuries really hurt them last year. A full year of Fox + Igor, and I think we have a damn good shot at competing for a playoff spot

It just amazes me that we always have to add, always have to give up a 1st, always get a crap return. There’s just always a reason why we lose on all these trades.

Kreider Trouba Kakko Panarin Trocheck. Not a single first round pick came back our way. Yet Drury has no problem throwing 1sts all over the place to get guys on expiring contracts, 30+ year olds etc etc.

He can careless about the future of this organization and is only worried about saving his own job, bc if this all fails he won’t be here to see it anyway. He’s the worst GM in the league, I can’t think of a team that’s had a worse 5 years since he’s taken over than this organization. From yearly cup contender to last place in the East and a bottom 10 prospect pool to add to it with little draft capital.

He’s put this organization in a very bad spot for the future.

1 for 1, I guess I do it bc of the positional need, but if we start adding picks/prospects then it just wasn’t meant to be. Next.

If we have to add, I think I’d just keep Schneider.

I kind of agree or at least understand – I would add a “Morrow type” because of our need for center depth (as we know JT will miss 20 games) is greater than their need for RHD upside… i think. I hate Drury as much as the next guy but we cant shoot him if he adds to get wright as it appears to be the market- maybe Jan knows better?

It’s an interesting trade, 1 for 1, not sure I do it. You’re trading more of a known for more of an unknown with higher upside.

If I had to I think I’d do it because the upside could be massive to go along with the desperate need for centers in this organization. I’d feel a little better if we got something added, but I think the 1 for 1 is fair.

I think the expert consensus is that we have to add not them. Just saying.
