ParticipantMy thoughts as well back to the OHL. Excel & dominate for a year while working on what told & taught in training camp.
His overall tool kit will be needed once he develops.

ParticipantBR’s scouting report
24. Vancouver Canucks: Adam Novotny, LW/RW, Peterborough Petes (OHL)
24 of 32
2026 NHL Draft – Day One
Strengths: Skating
Weaknesses: Would love to see him create more offensively
Pick Grade: A+
B/R Rank: 15
Analysis: We had Adam Novotny ranked at 15th overall; the Vancouver Canucks getting him at 24th overall feels like a steal. He has, without question, been the best player left on our board for a minute. The only analysis you need about this pick is that he is precisely the kind of player that the Canucks need; he’s got an Energizer Bunny-level motor and efficiency, skates incredibly well, and is developing his creation ability.
If you are a defender who has to go up against Adam Novotny one-on-one, make peace with your god now. You aren’t the one who is coming out of that scenario with the puck.
Novotny is engaged in every aspect of the game; he can create in multiple situations, and he’s an absolute beast on the forecheck. If you were to ask which prospect was most likely to make opponents cry out of sheer frustration, Novotny would be the answer. There isn’t a single shift where he doesn’t make his presence known and make an impact on the game.
He’s incredibly efficient, impacting all areas of the game and menacing opponents both when he has the puck and when he doesn’t. He can create on the cycle and off the rush, and it has felt like his offensive game has been developing further even over the latter half of this season. He’s intense on the forecheck, and he’s got speed that will burn most opponents.
Combining all of that with his offensive skill and the fact that we see his strengths consistently, he really projects as a power-forward type. Before his game rounded out, it was thought perhaps he’d end up more of a sniper; it was nice to see that develop further this season. Novotny will not need as much of a runway as many of his peers.Feels like a good pick. I wonder why he was a faller? Usually its because of size and skating but that’s not an issue with him.
Looks like he’ll be back on the Pete’s next season. No need to rush him.

ParticipantAdam Novotny – was he on your board Booner?
Had my eye on him still. I had Preston and Bleyl ahead for ceiling but this kid is pretty beefy at 6’1″ 200+ pounds. His playoff numbers were almost non existent unfortunately.
He could be a steal if not a lot of stock goes into PO scoring. Character & beefy is a need.

ParticipantYes cant complain at all as the entertainment of the fanbases celebrating how great they did, or how terrible the trade is. Always fun

ParticipantI am in favour of any pick not suggested by Nighthawk or Freakshow
My lousy record speaks for itself…
Ehlers not Virtanen the beginning of the end
Trade down for McAvoy not Juolevi say no more
Boldy not Podkolzin was a wasted 10oa pick3oa Stenberg or Reid
24oa high floor potential top 6 F
33rd go for boom or bust or a faller..Bleyl?
41st Goljer if there or Ryder CaliFeeling pretty good trades garner more noce picks. Idk what or which draft.

ParticipantLin will definitely be gone. But I like his game quite a bit although he’s a tad undersized. Very smooth skater and puck mover with a bit of a mean streak. This pains me to say as I loathe the Giants.
I saw quite a bit of Preston in the last couple of years. Mostly with Spokane. He’s a speedster. If his hands and the way he thinks the game catches up to his speed he could be a steal.
I also think they should draft Johnny Hicks if he’s around beyond the 3rd round. Longshot undersized Goalie but all he does is stop pucks and win.
