ParticipantI think it depends on Danny’s risk tolerance level… for example, Anderson is a quality goalie but has annual injury issues.

ParticipantThere is no way they can run it back with what they have in house. They have 20 other players they need to consider. At what point will those players get pissed off and maybe want to leave or no re-sign.
This is the 3rd off season for Briere. They will try very hard to sign/trade for the big name players.
Korpisalo is someone I can see them looking at.

ParticipantFWIW, this article seems to cover a lot of ground:

ParticipantThe only players they really need to worry about is MM. Who cares if bottom 6 forwards (and this constitutes the majority of the forwards) arent happy with the teams direction, they are easily replaceable

InactiveThe podcast seemed to insinuate that Jeremy Swayman could be a trade target.

ParticipantSwayman seems in play but why trade for something you can sign free as a UFA?
“In what is a tale as old as the franchise, the Philadelphia Flyers had a goaltending issue during the 2024-25 season. A major goaltending issue.”
This article got that right.

InactiveBecause Swayman signed an 8 year deal for 8.25aav. That is why they would have to trade for him.

What are you offering the Bruins to get Swayman? A UFA signing looks like a simpler fix to me.

ParticipantTrading for Swayman’s huge contract is exactly what Jonesy said he doesn’t want when he started the Pres job, an expensive goalie. You can get a Cup winning goalie for a mid-tier deal; like Kuemper, Hill, or Thompson.
Also, my Devils friend said he wants to keep Allen because Markstrom sucked most of the year, so I’m not sure he’ll make it to FA. If he does, I’d prefer Allen, or I’d go Lyon, Samsonov, Husso, or trade for Primeau because the creases in MTL and Laval are overflowingMay 2, 2025 at 12:06 pm #2421Anonymous
InactiveIm not offering anything for Swayman because I want nothing to do with that cap hit or term. As I said, I was just relaying what was said on this sites podcast. Trading for Swayman makes zero sense to me.

ParticipantIf Swayman has a NTC it is a moot point as he aint waiving to come to this clown show. Boston is also not going to tear it down after 1 odd year with several key injuries.

ParticipantImagine if they had kept Stolarz?

ParticipantAlso keep in mind any coach that takes this job will almost demand they improve the goaltending. Otherwise they are being set up for failure.

ParticipantMarkstrom was pretty amazing vs. Carolina in that first OT in the elimination game. Best period of goaltending I’ve seen in a while. Of course, it’s only one period. I’m sure NJ would like to keep Allen, but the Flyers can offer more starts. With a solid base and incentives for starts, I think they could make Allen a nice offer if they targeted him.
