I mean if that trade were available, you’re not really trading away your leading scorer and filling his role with notably lesser guys (and realistically Bennett is FAR from Marner) – you’re upgrading. But that just isn’t available now. -Monkeypunk
Bennett would be a far different guy on the Leafs.
Does anyone seriously believe Bennett would be allowed to injure a key player from another team, and not even get a minor penalty. They would be unloading him faster than they unloaded Kadri. The fact is, he should not even be on the ice, just like he shouldn’t have been on the ice after knocking Knies out of the series. Those were not just clean, hard-nosed bodychecks.

He has been awful. He has shied away from contact all game and can’t hit the fvcking net.
The McMann penalty wasn’t a penalty when verhaege hit Tanev or whoever cross-checked Marner into the end boards.
This is why I hate criticism that the Leafs aren’t tough enough.

I don’t get this team’s powerplay.
Get people in front and just get the puck through and fight for that rebound. It’s been working. Why are they working the puck around so much more now? Pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass . . .just looking for the perfect lane that a team like Florida isn’t going to give you. Sometimes you have to make a lane. Make it happen. -Monkeypunk
The worst part is that it is pretty easy to see what the problem is, but they refuse to change it.

He’s earned a couple penalties so far.
The players know it, and they’ll just keep escalating as long as they get away with it.

We know, for a fact, that the NHL does not call penalties based on what infractions have occurred on the ice.Let me counter:
The Panthers led the league in penalties this year – 10:24 per game.
The Leafs were 18th in the league – 7:58 per game.
So doing very simple math here, the Panthers should be getting one and a quarter more penalties called on them a game than the Leafs.
It’s even worse in the playoffs: Panthers averaging 13:08 per game, Leafs 8:30 per game.
So we’re playing virtually the same as the regular season, and they’ve become a little dirtier (and that’s assuming the reffing is the same – which we all know is not true). – Wedgie
Nice idea, and it makes perfect sense which is why it will never happen.
Florida will get PP’s until they get at least a 2 goal lead.
Leafs will get a couple cheapies at the end, when the game is out of reach, to make it sort of look like it was called fairly.Then again, Leafs aren’t the only team that gets, or has been, screwed over. That non-call on Edmonton last night was horrendous.
As I said I have it a week and no one cares so neither do I. I’m not hurt, just wanted to know lol.

My best guess is it is a disgruntled (unpaid) employee trying to kill the site – best way to do that is to kill the Leafs’ thread.
