Another good night to buy Leafs tix.

    Looking right now – Sec 115, Row 14 Golds – $162.68 a ticket.

    The market is dead.

Will be very interesting to see what happens at renewal time.

I’ve been a season ticket holder for almost 30 years, and prior to this year, never considered giving them up.

As of today, I do not think I will renew.

Surprised to hear this Wedgsies. Is it because you feel the team is not, or on the verge of being not, competitive? Is it that you find the lack of effort or heart to be frustrating? Is it the price? (vs. what you could do on the re-sale market)? Or do you just find that you don’t have time or don’t care that much anymore.

I have definitely found that I don’t care as much.

Guess where they’ll be when the league is in the playoffs? Golfing.

But I’m sure you’re happy with mediocrity, explains why you’re a cuck.

I’m guessing this is as accurate as the jays losing to Seattle 👍

They only won any games because they scored 13 runs.

In related news, Tourette syndrome can be very amusing on a hockey message board.

    Go Jays Go!! 👍👍👍

Nothing really broke their way today.
The lodged ball call is absurd.

This season is far from over but there isn’t much to suggest it’s going to get better than this as their schedule gets tougher. They have no assets to make trades to improve this team. Maybe they need to do what the Jays did and suck ass this year and then shock everybody next year.

Other than they had the same record this time last year and won the division, they are missing their 1B goalie, willie and Tanev.
Not the end of the world.

But the leafs did screw themselves by trading away so many picks and assets. The laughton trade looks worse and worse by the minute.

Another problem for the leafs is Matthews looks like a decent 2nd line center. I think I heard he has 5 5on5 goals since feb 1st. Put him 250th in the league.

And they are missing Marner, although apparently he was the source of all the problems on the team.
Matthews has 2 empty netters, and 2 tap-ins from passes in his 5 goals. His play is uninspired at best. He would be a 2nd line center on an average team.
Really though, when was the last time we saw him do something fantastic, or even really good.

    JT with the winner!!! 👍👍👍

He’s one of the few guys whose effort I can’t fault on a night to night basis. He’s pretty steady, was maybe overpaid on his last contract, but is underpaid now.

Yup. They clearly are not buying in.

Well, let’s hope the d men get back soon, line 3 doesn’t get touched, Nylander isn’t too hurt, and the rest of the team realizes that if they want to win under Berube they ALL need to play like line 3 did.

Stop trying to look pretty and talented, do a hard forecheck, a hard backcheck, and shoot the puck on net lots. If they’re doing their jobs correctly there should always be someone there to bang home rebounds.

It’s pretty basic, perform playoff hockey all season long, and as much as I hate to say it but if they’re unwilling to do it that just tells me they won’t be anything special in the post season. Do they have the talent? Yes. The willingness? Too early in the season to know for sure.

I think the whole idea behind letting Marner walk was to change the makeup of the team and hopefully add more of the elements you describe.
Unfortunately, so far it looks like the only effect is to reduce the talent level significantly, with no real positive changes to how they play. The injuries don’t help, but the past decade or so they haven’t worked hard enough or been consistent enough even with everyone healthy. The frustrating part is that none of their problems are new.

    Well, that’s gotta sting. #Sabres

Never really paid much attention to the Leafs, but since the Marner trade I’m now interested to see how it plays out with Toronto, and with Vegas.

Ugly game, but losing both Rielly and Tanev, their two best D men, in the same game while the coach was rebuilding the lines I wasn’t overly surprised to see that only one thing truly looked decent and that was line 3.

At least those 3 buy into Berube’s game.

Yup. They clearly are not buying in.

    Leafs put Woll on LRIR?

That doesn’t sound good at all.

As usual, your predictions are bang on. Thanks Bobby. Welcome back Woller.

This whole Woll stuff is more than a little “mysterious”.

Even if Jays weren’t playing, Leafs are a tough watch these days. Less that they’re bad. More that they’re boring -Cupsies

For me, it is that they are frustrating/annoying to watch. The same mistakes, the same lack of effort and Matthews has regressed as a player. You still get the exact same feeling that this isn’t a “team” that gives a crap about each other. It’s a mystery Cupsie. I was assured that Marner was the entire problem and getting rid of him would fix everything when they bring in much more effective replacements.

Seems very strange. It does not seem like the original reasons he left. I think the Leafs are playing LTIR games here, although I don’t fully understand the cap implications.

The Leafs are bad enough to miss the playoffs.

The returns suggested for Matthews are pure fantasy. His contract is an albatross. He is not even in the ballpark of performing up to that contract.

At some point, people will wake up and realize that we just don’t see him ripping pucks past frozen goaltenders anymore. I don’t know if it is injuries or not, but he used to be the most lethal player in the league and he is nowhere near that now and hasn’t been for a couple years.

If he has lost his lethal shot fine, he can still skate, handle the puck, and pass extremely well. Berube’s should have a chat with him, tell him to pass the puck more and put Nylander on his wing. Sure he’ll still get his “in tight” goals but you get what I’m saying.

But I agree he isn’t looking like he used to yet and it’s not from a lack of chances so he’s still getting the puck fed to him just fine.

I think the tough part is that it seems like an injury, but obviously one that they can’t address and just isn’t going to get better 🙁
