I thought the Blackhawks went into the Edmonton game with a good game plan, and were able to match up well against their top line variations of their top twosome, use their team speed to play well defensively. There were hopes of a Lardis coming out party ,while Ollie blabs mike-up, we saw some top relentless action from Slaggert,Kaiser, and more superb Knightly armor, but the mediocre part of this line-up is having a mid line-up that are all short a tool that aids the team’s attack. The slack at lighting the light does show there again weren’t enough finishers, to the point where Nickie Lardis is your main gun?
I doubt some surprise veteran sniper is on the market, or how interested anyone in-house is for that type of solution this season, but, after you watch a match where the team’s roster weaknesses are exposed, I think they may have to have start pre-selling the notion that they planned for later public releases, like
    1) Connor Bedard’s addition to the Olympics, with the Wilson knee-ankle injury?

    2) Foligno will be officially added to the coaching staff.

    3) Which of the players with ending contracts MAY be interested in a trade deal where they play for the Silver Cup?

    4) That Arty is working up confidence about his shot.

    5) Using Vlasic and Crevier and the Oiler’s #1 line will continue.

Korchinski and a 2nd rounder for Michkov?

1st goal was on Lardis not covering his guy and Arty not winning a board battle

2nd was on 48 making a terrible pass.

Lardis, KK, & Arty all -2 through 1st. “Move your fuc*ing feet rooks!”

KK/Grizz pairing – what could go wrong?! KK already -1 less than 5 mins in. Why not call up EDM to pair with Grizz?

Make that -2 for KK with 4:43 left in the 1st

5v3 for 1:15 and they passed it around the whole time. Teuvo taking FO on PP1 also.

Spellacy is an energy guy with speed and hopefully enough skill. If he develops more than that big win for the Blackhawks, but if he’s a 25 top 35 point forward who is one of 3 forwards who tilt the ice in our favor on a regular basis it’s a great draft pick.

Agreed and with his skill level, I could see him being more Ben Eager than Wilson/Benny.

Spellacy won’t sniff top 6 anytime soon, if ever. He’s 4th liner on a contender that could slide up to 3rd if/when needed.

Grier playing chess, Kyle playing checkers. Allan didn’t need to be moved yet. It’s still early January for cripes sake. Could’ve just been Ellis for Brossoit without bending over and showing the undercarriage. C’est la vie

Arty is going to have to put his big pants on one day, more concerned about getting checked instead of making a solid play to get the puck out of the zone.

Defensively, he’s still pretty brutal. Everyone loving his game of late must be referring to his offensive output only.

Definitely Foligno, Dickinson or Lafferty won’t be here next year.

I can see Kantserov and Frondell on the team next year replacing 2 of Foligno, Angie and Lafferty. IMO that 3rd spot will be given to an overpaid veteran forward, maybe on a 2 year deal, to eat up some cap space. Can’t ice a team with 8 to 10 guys on ELC’s for both cap floor requirements and the need for some veterans.

Vanacker, Spellacy, maybe Boisvert at the Rock next year. Behm committed to Arizona State next season. Nestrasil likely still in college next season. Also next year, West plays at Michigan State, probably for 2 years.

I like Frondell as wing more than center but seem to only catch games when he’s playing wing mostly if not exclusively. If Frondell sticks in NHL at center, do Hawks move Nazar to 3C? Honestly think he’d be an incredible 3C on a contender.

Sweden/Czech off to hot start. Nestrasil just had a really terrible defensive play to gift Sweden’s first goal.
Frondell is such a joy to watch play. So smart and confident. Smashed 6’6 Mrkta earlier in the 1st. His positioning and vision are next level as are his shot and passing.
