ParticipantGood! Time to get rid of FanDuel! Be cool if they offered it for free like Dallas and Victory!
What D-man is Detroit gonna get. I hear Toronto is going to have “the conversation with Morgan Reilly. I think he can be gotten cheap as he is a cap dump as well. He is 31 and has 4 more years after this one at $7.5M. He can handle 2nd pairing with Chiarot and they can decide who plays the RS as both can. Then ASP can be bumped to the 3rd pairing and Travis is in the press box.-

ParticipantY is looking at Stanley or Schenn…….Stanley….OK, but not really a needle mover, No to Schenn

ParticipantWally would be totally exposed as he is not ready. Holl would be OK for a call-up until Y finds a trade option.

ParticipantDetroit is very deep in very good prospect goaltenders. Postava is sporting a .944 in GrandRapids, Augustine may be leading his squad to an NCAA championship, Gylander is .909 with the Walleye, Guimond is .920 with 32 GP in the Q, Cossa fetching a premier 1st pairing defender is what Detroit has been needing for a long, long time! You don’t dismiss that, especially with the depth they now have in goal!
Coud just do Cossa for Nickishin of the Canes straight up.DatsDangle
ParticipantIn the broadcast last night Chelios suggested going all out to get Werenski by giving them Cossa and more………….This has got by vote!

ParticipantJust some more support for not getting an overly expensive rental named Rasmus:

ParticipantI am glad Y did not go all out for Andersson. He was not going to sign in Detroit, so the “interest” that was exhibited only pumped up the price. Soucy is nothing but a depth rental and should only fetch a 4th. A better solution would be Braeden Schneider. Y should be all over this if he becomes available. The D has needed fixing and a 2nd pair guy for what seems forever. It still needs fixing and will cost dearly.

ParticipantI called it! To Vegas he went for Whitecloud, a 1st, and another pick or a prospect I said! But they got another pick AND a prospect. It is a great return for the Flames, despite Zach not having “star power”, but he is solid!
Rasmus and Noah reunited!
Will Vegas do OK with their goaltending though?DatsDangle
ParticipantI thought Schnieder was a true 2nd pair guy. I guess I don’t watch the Rags enough to judge….
My only favs on you team are Shesty and Trocheck, though I certainly don’t see them being traded.DatsDangle
ParticipantDitto the sentiment on beating the Laffs! A good season cannot be w/o taking the series with the Laffs!!!
Seen an article saying DeBrusk will be a healthy scratch and the article already postulated that he be traded! DeBrusk could be a good Wing pickup, if that happens. A reasonable cap hit at $5.5M, but for 5 more seasons………till he is 34.DatsDangle
ParticipantKasper is waiver exempt.
Good to see this site come back to life!
Wings beat the Stars in OT and appear to have the resilient nature to compete for more prominence in the league! I hope they find the consistency to keep up this effort!!!!

ParticipantQuinn Hughes to the Wings?
SCOTT MAXWELL: Since none of us seems to be going with the obvious answer of New Jersey, I’ll say the Detroit Red Wings. While their defense corps has been much improved this season, they still do need help on the blueline, and Quinn Hughes is the perfect player to infuse into the lineup and open their contention window. Detroit has the cap space to add him without even needing to move money, and they’ll definitely have enough space for a new contract based on how their current cap picture is laid out. They’re also one of the few teams with a prospect pool deep enough to give the Canucks a strong offer. Oh, and Hughes spent two years at the University of Michigan, so he’s familiar with the area. The Red Wings are finally showing signs that the Yzerplan is coming to fruition, and Hughes may be the kind of long-term lineup influx they need to put them over the top.DatsDangle
ParticipantFunny that the biggest problem the Wings have had the past 4 years is still the biggest problem they still have not addressed. Not having a decent top 4 has cost them dearly, and looking forward to next year does not seem to offer a in-house solution either. It will cost them dearly to acquire the help that they need, and Y does not apparently think that it would be worth the great cost now. The rising cap has made all valuable players even more valuable and the expense is only justified if that player could make a team compete for a cup, not just compete for a wild card spot.
So it seems that Wings fans will have to just wait till “maybe next year”. 😣 -
