True the Habs definatley got the best player in this deal right now and it’s not even close. Determining if this is a steal of a deal for them, a fair deal or a bad deal (unlikely IMO) will take years to really figure out since you don’t know what you have in a draft pick for years.
Windows open and close, I’m not convinced the quick ‘rebuild’ vs a complete one isn’t going to be something more and more teams figure out how to do but really it comes down to if players will sign deals that allow teams to do so.

That’s a solid deal for a 2nd line C for the first couple years who will end it off as a very good 3C for the last couple who can always jump into the top 6 due to injury.
Scored 100 points with 70+ assists with a crippled Matthews all season long. Gave Tavares his career year high in goals prior to playing with Matthews too.
He’ll be just fine in Vegas or Dallas. And even if he doesn’t score 100 points, his hockey IQ, two-way play, will work well enough to get results on those teams.
You and many other Leafs fans just can’t see it yet, just like they couldn’t see Kadri being a playoff beast because they were too busy crying about his suspensions.
Actually I can see it just fine. An injured Matthews can still shoot, his problem was only hitting the net properly, and JT shoots just fine, so those two actually strengthen my argument.
Marner is Gretzky man. With one exception. Gretzky could see a guy diving down to lay on or pin or block a puck ahead of him doing so by about 1 second and simply stick handled the puck away from being caught up in it whereas Marner doesn’t see it and always gets caught up in it. It’s why Marner always disappears in games 5,6, & 7. It’s when the ref whistles go away.
I’m not trying to be an ass here, I’m saying this with respect to Marner’s talent, but what it’s missing is Gretzky’s ability to see things before they happened.
Marner is going to look even better than Kadri did holding that Cup over his head while Leafs fans make excuses for the idiots that run this team and the morons who support the bad decisions.
Marner just better hope he gets a top notched shooter on his line because if he doesn’t he’ll just end up being half the producer that he is.

No idea who it is, I have suspicions but I won’t bring them up. I’ve openly asked Ek to be bumped up from just being a typical mod to being the type who has the ability to kick people off the site who no longer mod or blog there so they no longer have banning ability, and release the bans on those those who shouldn’t be banned, basically clean up the site. He doesn’t answer though so there isn’t much else I can do.

That’s the weird thing about mine then. It never says I’m banned, it just asks me to verify my HB account with my cell number. And, according to Dozzer’s inside information, my ban should have been over by now.

For instance look at someone like Matthews. He took $14.43 million on July 1st while living in Arizona as a bonus at 39.5% taxation. He earned only $775K throughout the season.
During the season you are paid game by game. So the only location he is paid high earning is Ontario where he plays 43 games (2 in Ottawa). So he has to pay 53.53% on $406,402.44 which equals $217,547.23.
The remainder of the $368,597.56 basically doesn’t get taxed at all because it’s broken down over all the states and provinces into low earnings. 4 games in Florida during a season is a big one for instance and that’s still just $37,804.88.
He only makes $9,451.22 a game at league minimum. So if you’re wondering why bonuses are used, this is why. My curiousity is how the bonus is being used, those ways are what is beyond what I know lol
At this point why would the leafs want him back for even more money?
Im kinda tired of seeing him in a leafs jersey anyway, unless he leads this team to a cup in the next 4 years, Im perfectly fine with him leaving.i get what you’re saying after that last season however he openly admitted to playing hurt all year as well.
I’m honestly thinking he knew that if this past season didn’t play out Marner would be gone so he played through the injury. Because of this I’m willing to give him next season before I set an opinion about this.
Does the Matthews before this past season come back? Or do we see another season similar to this one? That’s the question in my head right now.
