Participantit’s a leverage given to the player so that he gets to have control over where he plays
yes, it’s also a way to lower the cap. we’ll give you less money but we’ll throw in a NMC…
I still don’t like it and would do without.-

Participantyeah, giving them out like candy is definitely a bad idea, but for certain players I understand why teams would do that
not even. you’re fucked. let say a player with a NMC changes is mind and wants to be traded, we saw that often. GMS have no options, they trade the guy.
but that doesn’t work the other way around!! well, not really, we do see it sometimes.
if you never give NMC… it’s pretty simple. we’re happy, we keep you, we’re not happy we trade you. and the same thing for the player, he can ask for a trade whenever he wants. fair deal for both sides.-

Participantthe way you’re putting it is that players shouldn’t take advantage of their NMC, which was provided to them by the GM when they signed their contract.
you’re right, GMs are at fault 100%.
I would never as a gm give a NMC. never. nothing good can come out of it.-

ParticipantI’m pretty sure he’s going to waive his NMC if he doesn’t want to play there lol…
like Marner did?

Participant@ Fido? really?
that would be very poor asset management
you mean like TOR losing Marner for nothing? how’s that for asset management?
Kaprisov has a NMC, so they can’t trade him, and he won’t sign. so they’re fucked.
the only one option left is to healthy scratch the kid, when he’s tired of it he’ll lift his NMC and they’ll trade him.and yes Pat is always right

Participantmaybe I’m missing a part of the story here but I don’t understand the emotional response, if he doesn’t want to play there anymore, what’s he supposed to do, sign anyway for a bunch of money and be unhappy? doesn’t really make sense
yeah, maybe I overreact a little bit here.
I’d still give a call to Tonya.September 10, 2025 at 3:06 pm in reply to: Brossoit: The Two Canadiens Players You Want to Believe In #26400fidopro

ParticipantI don’t think it’s because Karpizov wants even more money, he simply doesn’t want to play there anymore.
exactly, I would have him healthy scratch for all 82 games.
you don’t want to play here? there you go!September 10, 2025 at 2:45 pm in reply to: Brossoit: The Two Canadiens Players You Want to Believe In #26379fidopro
