ParticipantThey did it last year….
last year they had Dvorak. his line with Gally and Anderson was often our best line.
they had Suzuki Dvorak and Evans, that’s 3 legit centers.
now they have 2.September 5, 2025 at 9:14 pm in reply to: Brossoit: The Two Canadiens Players You Want to Believe In #25283fidopro
Participantif they’re trying to get an already established center or a high-end prospect, they’re gonna have to pay up, that’s for sure.
they have the assets to make it happen, just need to find a dance partner. easier said than done.

Participantyeah, Dach isn’t going to fetch you a 2C, especially not now loll
it would probably cost a forward, a dman, and picks/prospects

ParticipantI agree, but there could also be a scenario where Dach starts the season with the habs, actually plays decently (maybe on the wing..?) and Hughes then trades him once his value gets higher. perhaps they’ve already made up their mind about Dach and are just waiting for the right moment.
oh right right. yes that is a possibility. I meant in a trade now, to get a #2C.

Participantyeah, there’s a strong chance he ends up on the wing, if he isn’t traded…
I’d be extremely surprised if he is traded. his value is too low.
Newhook maybe?
because if they do get a center, someone will have to go the other way. they already have 12-13 forwards-

ParticipantI wouldn’t put any money on Dach staying healthy and to play well as the 2C, but I’m still very curious to see what happens, I wouldn’t count him out just yet.
yep should be fun to watch. I still think his hockey IQ is not high enough to play center though.

Participantif Dach or Newhook is half decent it could do the trick
that’s a fuckin big if lol

Participantreally..? I was expecting zero return
they had zero return. the dman they got will never come even close to play in Mtl.
SJ had to trade a contract, they’re at 50 if I’m not mistaken.
and yes Habs need to make another trade. as it is they only have 2 legit centers. Suzuki and Evans. all the others are big ??
not the end of the world if they do not, but you cannot seriously expect to make the playoffs that thin down the middle.September 5, 2025 at 5:53 pm in reply to: Brossoit: The Two Canadiens Players You Want to Believe In #25231fidopro
Participantthere you go! well done Kent, now go get a center
September 4, 2025 at 1:25 pm in reply to: Brossoit: The Two Canadiens Players You Want to Believe In #24899fidopro
ParticipantWhile it could be nice to get that cap off the books, the Habs do not need to trade him either.
exactly. you want him? fine take him, but we’re not giving you picks to do so. certainly not top picks.
no hurry what so ever to trade him, unless they have another deal in place to get a center.September 3, 2025 at 8:33 pm in reply to: Brossoit: The Two Canadiens Players You Want to Believe In #24710fidopro
Participantindeed

ParticipantOn paper that look like a valid point, but they could front load a deal themselves, can’t they not?
they would still have to pay 100% of the contract, front loaded or not. by acquiring Price they save 8M. best deal in town, especially for owners who don’t like to spend.
Weber was traded, many others before him too, can’t see why Price wouldn’t be.-

ParticipantBecause why would teams jump on that contract? Mtl is the one desperate to get rid of it.
If all a team can get from this besides reaching the $$$ floor is a 3rd round pick there should not be any surprise there.
I mean, in theory, a team could decide to sign a god damn squirrel at 5M per year to reach the floor et voila! Thats easy!
Whats not that easy is a team willing to trade for Price’s contract. They could sign anybody in the world at any price to reach the floor.
if they sign a god damn squirrel at 5M per… they’ll have to pay him 5M!
by acquiring Price, they only pay 2M to get a 10M cap contract.
but I’m sure you knew that.September 1, 2025 at 2:55 pm in reply to: Brossoit: The Two Canadiens Players You Want to Believe In #24167fidopro
ParticipantLa question demeure Pat, tu donnerais quoi pour Crosby, sachant que son contrat se termine dans deux ans?
Kapanen, Engstrom and 2 1st
and Price obviously
PIT can’t ask for much more if Sid decides he wants to play in Mtl and nowhere else.
no way I give a top prospect like Reinbacher for 2 years of Sid, and Hughes wouldn’t either.September 1, 2025 at 2:23 pm in reply to: Brossoit: The Two Canadiens Players You Want to Believe In #24142fidopro
Participantyou’re 100% right Pat. it’s just a nice story.
but PIT is rebuilding, need picks and prospects, Habs have plenty. Habs need a center, Crosby was linked to Mtl before, Price could be included…
only Sid knows, but it really is a nice story 🙂
what else are we gonna chat about for the next 2 weeks? -
