ParticipantIt seems hit or miss as to whether my posts show or not. Had to do a complete repost below

ParticipantWhat’s with the site as recent post just disappearing.
Like predicted Andrae sent down. Imagine him being one of the names mentioned why they didn’t draft Buium. NHL ready flahr said last year. Granted he didn’t do anything to stand out or separate himself from the pack. Looks like another wasted 2nd rd pick. Thouh where the flyers are at he should be in the lineup over juulson and gilbert, maybe zamula.
2016-2022 2nd rd picks: Labarge, hart, allison, ratcliff, ginning, brink, andrae, Samu. Add helge. Not very impressive.
The Flyers have no clue where they are at and never have.

CEO Dan Hilferty: “Now we’re adding and you only add when you think you’re in the playoff conversation.”
They are loading up for the playoffs (or is it the rebuild?) and you know what the Flyers think about small defensemen in the playoffs.
It’s hard to keep track of which lie they push on any given day.

ParticipantOnce again, while he made good defensive decisions, he really didn’t display much risk taking. It’s impossible to know for sure if Luchanko is in danger of being sent to junior at the moment. But if he’s going to make the Flyers roster this season, more scoring upside has to be shown over the next few games.
If they carry 14 forwards, then it’s between Jett and Bump for #14. All this is academic if a forward gets hurts before the opener. They all make it then unless it’s one of them that gets hurt. All you have to do is be able to read a depth chart. Luchanko didn’t display enough risk taking? Tocchet literally said last night the Flyers are playing with too much risk. Listen to the post game presser. Jett is a responsible player. People are applying Top 6 standards when the team only needs competent 4th line play from him. Do no harm. He’s delivering on that. Yes, send the guy back to juniors, he’s listening to the coach and not a hockey blogger!
In the meantime, Zeev Buium was a -4 in his pre-season debut and three of those goals were on him. He’s making Helge Grans look like Rod Langway.
Eh, everyone’s got an opinion. I guess we’ll see how it all plays out. I agree with you that he’ll make the team, just not the reasoning why. Just more data points.
A little sensitive on Zeev it seems though with him playing his 1st preseason game.
Jett on the other hand is playing his 2nd full preseason after making the team out of camp last year (as the youngest flyer ever in history in case you didn’t know) and playing in the AHL playoffs. It’s a shame he pooped the bed after all that hype last year. More should be expected of him.
There’s no pressure on Zeev right now or on the ones who drafted him. The pressure is all on DB and Jett. If he’d been drafted by a better franchise he would be just another prospect in the pipeline that nobody outside the org cared about and free to develop on his own timeline whereas on the Flyers they expect him to be their #1 center sooner rather than later, which, imo, would be a disaster if it happens at any point.

ParticipantNo, but he didn’t progress it either. Poor ownership, management, decision making and drafting set the franchise back. It’s going to take a few more years to climb out of it too!
Some people are questioning all those 8 year contracts handed out. It’s all about the timeline and what appears to be a scattershot approach towards building towards a future contending team.
Having that much money allocated to two players in their mid-30s could be a problem. By that point, they could be third-liners—perhaps still capable of 20-goal seasons, but with a regressed all-around impact.
That kind of inefficient spending can severely limit a team’s ceiling. Instead of being able to add a top-four defenseman, for example, the Flyers may not have the funds to make that happen.Flyers_01
ParticipantAt the same time, Luchanko gained a second opportunity to show his offensive toolkit with Tippett and Grebenkin after a quiet game in Hershey.
Once again, while he made good defensive decisions, he really didn’t display much risk taking. It’s impossible to know for sure if Luchanko is in danger of being sent to junior at the moment. But if he’s going to make the Flyers roster this season, more scoring upside has to be shown over the next few games.
Oh nooo ….. Is this the same guy that DB said blew them away from day 1 last year and is why he made the team?
2024 – “Going into training camp, I never thought he had much of a chance [to make the team], more of an outside chance, small outside chance, to be honest. But he has blown us away from Day 1. The speed is one thing that really jumped out, top-end NHL speed already at such a young age; that’s impressive,” Briere said.
Did that player leave the building when Torts left? Anyway, DB and the Flyers PR dept have to much invested in this kid, i still can’t see them sending him down.

ParticipantSome interesting quotes
Torts : In an interview with NHL.com, he wanted to clear the air. “I loved coaching them,” he said. “I heard a couple NHL coaches accuse me [of quitting on the Flyers]. Did I quit on the team after those comments I made in Toronto? I haven’t quit on a [expletive] thing in my life. Those comments were totally taken out of [context].”
Not sure that qualifies as clearing the air, more of a don’t believe your eyes and ears, i still want a coaching job. Sounds like even his peers agree he quit.
Coots : Couturier said the following about the team’s ineffective power play: “It was almost like, the last couple years, guys were scared to make plays and get pulled off [the power play]. It’s not quite, I think, the mentality or philosophy you want to have going into a power play and trying to score a goal, when you’re scared to make plays.”
Also, Torts is getting some help with his damage control to his image. Sullivan is really doing him a solid.
yardbarker.com/nhl/articles/john_tortorella_taking_on_new_role_with_team_usa/s1_17437_42807157
Sullivan : ”I want you to reveal yourself to the players and the other coaches,” Sullivan continued. “I want you to show the John Tortorella that I know, that my wife knows, that my kids know, that your kids know, that you don’t show the world very often.”
ROFL. Tortorella is 67 and is going to reveal himself, for the first time, like a blooming flower to the world. How desperate is he to get another job and I wonder how his PR team got him to understand how bad his image is.
This guys is going to bloom? “It goes with me everywhere,” Tortorella said with a smile. “I’ve been fired a few times; I always ask for the rope back when I’m out the door.”

ParticipantDo you feel he’s already made the team and that it’s in his best interest in terms of development that he be in the NHL? for pure entertainment purposes hope the jett is the 4th line center. then can watch him develop his offensive chops. maybe the next ryan poehlig
there is zero need to carry 14/15 forwards.
This is what so many aren’t getting. Jett’s best interest in terms of development is not the priority. The priority is the team. Who are the best players available to fill the roster spots? They aren’t going to put him in a position where he literally crashes and burns. Abols surprise step up has complicated things in a good way. They can’t carry 15 forwards, but 14 is not unreasonable.
The D is the problem anyway, even after Risto returns. We’ll see about the goaltending. Was surprised they only gave Vladar one period last night after working Kolosov in 40 minutes in two games already.
I think i see the root of our difference of opinion. Being that the team is “rebuilding” my point of view is the team should do what is best for the players in the long term so that down the road they can help the team to the best of their abilities. It sounds like your view is decidedly short term, as in the current year and not beyond. Jett may indeed be a warm body to fill a bottom lower roster spot in this case but in the longer view i still think that isn’t a wise decision by the team if that’s the only reason they keep him.
I would also remind you that they kept him last year and he crashed and burned. Doesn’t mean they won’t do it again.

ParticipantLuchanko’s speed flashed a few times and he played solid defensively and on the penalty kill.
So what’s the problem? Where’s the giant issue? IF Jett makes the team it’s as a 4th liner. How much scoring do you expect from your 4th line? I think the Flyers are also looking to carry 14 forwards. There are realistically only 15 guys in the mix.
HATHAWAY COUTURIER KONECNY DVORAK ZEGRAS MICHKOV FOERSTER CATES TIPPETT-Absolute locks
BRINK DESLAURIERS ABOLS-Highly probable
GREBENKIN BUMP LUCHANKO-66% chance for each of these three if they carry 14 Fs.Do you feel he’s already made the team and that it’s in his best interest in terms of development that he be in the NHL?
