ParticipantThe Grzelcyk situation comes down to roster construction. If the Blackhawks go with 7 defensemen and 14 forwards, Grzelcyk could find himself as the extra man. But if they carry 8 defensemen and 13 forwards, his experience gives him the edge.
The cap floor matters with their roster construction.
Currently, I believe they need Brossoit *or* the Weber contract on the roster to make the cap floor safely.
Without either of those contracts, Kaiser + the 23rd rostered player (Grzelcyk or a young F/D) would need to total approx. $4mm in salary to barely make the floor.Metalhead
ParticipantAlso I think with the rising cap, there will be fewer free agents on the market in coming years since teams will be able to pay their own players.
Yes, but to balance this, in 2 or 3 seasons there could very well be teams that age or fail out of their Cup window(s).
Instead of poaching due to cap constraints, they might be able to get a very good / great player(s) from a team doing a partial rebuild or even a tear down.Metalhead
ParticipantCrevier is no longer waiver exempt. Serves well as a 7th D-man.
My bad ! Thanks for the correction, Haru ! ????
Makes the D lineup even more interesting as the season starts.
If they keep Crevier as D7, I would add a few percentage points increase that Grizelda make the team.
Still not very likely unless Murphy/Vlasic/Rinzel/Kaiser get dinged before game 1.Metalhead
ParticipantI’ve got 8 Dmen and 15 Forwards from the list making the team without him.
(8) D-man possibly rostered w/ the Weber contract (if Brossoit is not rostered as a 3rd goalie to make the cap floor)
If Brossoit is healthy, then (7) D-man likely rostered:
1 Murphy
2 Vlasic
3 Rinzel
4 Kaiser
+ (3) out of this group of Grizelda and 6 youngsters (Lev, Del Mastro, Korchinski, Allan, Crevier, Harding) <<<< all (6) here are waivers exemptGrizelda could make the 23 man roster if:
a) the team slow rolls the young D-men.
b) team has a plan to trade Murphy and wants a veteran
c) insurance against training camp injuries“C” is most likely, but with all the youngsters, “A” is not out of the question.
Overall not very likely, but not out of the realm of possibility either.

ParticipantHawks offering defenseman Matt Grzelcyk a PTO.

ParticipantI’ve seen a couple other people complaining about an NFL “AI Slop” commercial.
Have not seen it, but I’m assuming that’s the one, eh?September 15, 2025 at 10:10 pm in reply to: Brossoit: Prospect Showcase Packed with Top Habs Hopefuls #27791Metalhead
Participantthat’s what i was afraid of. hanging on too long? are they even the original members?
Only the drummer is truly original (1968)
However, the singer and bassist go back to 1969, when the classic “Smoke On The Water” lineup was created.September 15, 2025 at 9:47 pm in reply to: Brossoit: Prospect Showcase Packed with Top Habs Hopefuls #27783Metalhead
Participanti even came home today and listened to a bunch of their songs on youtube but i didn’t find it.
i also learned that they’re still touring and making records to this very day. that’s crazy.
Yeah, they should have given it up years ago.
