ParticipantHe could have accepted a trade out of Toronto, anytime during the last two seasons. He wanted to hold the team up for ransom. He isn’t worth anything near Matthews. What awards has Marner won, compared to Matthews? Matthews had multiple 100 point seasons, plus multiple Rockets, and a Hart Trophy. Marner…..nothing! He’s just a teeny, tiny mercenary that’s not worth more than $10M per season. Good riddance to the soap opera and it’s time to seal this thing up and win the East and play for a Cup.

ParticipantNope, just Carney’s daily routine.
Just came back from the States, near Cornwall. Pretty much devoid of Canadians going stateside. I’ve been across a couple of other Canadian/U.S. border crossings recently, and the same thing. It’s a great time to go stateside. Hotels are cheap, because there’s no Canadian’s staying and restaurants are not busy. Some decent deals to be had and I don’t have to look at the Elbows Up clowns that seem to be everywhere in Woke City Canada, Kingston. I’m just glad that Hockey is soon becoming relevant once again. Blue Jays are trending into collapse mode with the Jordan Romano disease being spread around in the bullpen. Let’s go Bills!

ParticipantSo far, there’s nothing there that screams NHL player in the future. Outside of the top 3 prospects, the cupboards are bare and the Cockroaches have moved out.

ParticipantExcept Leafs ticket prices would be completely unaffected if they eliminated revenue sharing.
Ticket prices are not tied to costs – it’s simply supply and demand.
I hate that the price I pay for tickets partially funds weaker clubs, but if revenue sharing was eliminated, MLSE wouldn’t lower ticket prices – they would simply make more profit.
Having said that, I would like to see the NHL adopt a soft cap like MLB – I strongly believe that baseball benefits financially by having big market teams have a slight advantage.
You either love the Yankees or you hate the Yankees, but either way, you are paying attention to them.
100%.
I bet there would be a change if the Federal and Provincial governments took away the Entertainment write-off provision. If the Corporate Elites had to actually pay for their tickets, they might just say, “No Thanks!” Maybe then, tickets would become available for less. On one other note, I don’t know why that the Canadian teams and other U.S. markets didn’t fight harder in-regards-to evening up the tax situations that favour the Southern, no income tax states. There needs to be balance. Canadian teams can’t afford Canadian players, due to the taxation issues. American and some European players can have their bonuses paid in their own jurisdiction and save a lot of money. Canadians? They’re stuck with the Elbows Up your ass government that would rather have it as Hand’s up, as they steal your wallet.
There should be a soft cap of 5-10% of the total cap that teams are allowed to go over for a brief period of time. Perhaps limit teams to only 3 overages every 5 years or something like that. Additionally, include a dollar for dollar tax that goes directly to revenue sharing so that weak teams can still benefit from the system.
Perhaps also look at a franchise tag type of provision that allows teams to grossly overpay one player without it counting against the cap so teams have better odds of retaining their cornerstone player.[/quote]

ParticipantThey almost blew that game tonight. They were fortunate that they weren’t embarrassed, losing a game that should have been in the bag. There were some suspect coaching moves, in regards to leaving pitchers out there too long. Now they’ve wore out their bullpen. Hopefully, tomorrow’s starter can give them at least 7 strong innings.

ParticipantIt’s long overdue, a Maple Leafs ticket revolt. I’m tired of subsidizing 2/3rds of the NHL with Revenue Sharing. Let the southern teams dry up, whither and die. They already get all of the tax benefits and we still send them money to keep them operational. There should be a 3 year moratorium on Revenue Sharing. If you can’t make it, in 3 years, you’re franchise is relocated or folded. Enough of this sh!t!

ParticipantAppleTV game…..pa fangulo! Rogers just put up their rates for streaming their service and yet a 3rd party gets games going down the stretch during a pennant race.

ParticipantEl Prince-o! Good to see you here too. So envious you got to see a cup!
Yeah, saw it in glorious black and white. I often think about the time. Expo 67 happened. So did the Summer of Love. The Beatles released Sgt. Peppers just after they won the Cup. Star Trek TOS was all the rage. Man had not yet walked on the Moon. Great sports cars, the Georgie Girl look was all the rage with females. A great time to grow up. I may die before I see them win a 3rd round playoff series.

ParticipantWon’t let me quote or reply either but not sure what you’re saying.
Draisaitl 96 games, 52 goals, 141 points.
Marner 70 games, 13 goals,63 points.
One deserves premium top dollar one doesn’t. One has earned it, one hasn’t when it counts.
None of use would care what Marner is making if he put up the Draisaitl stats and got us to 2 cup finals whom 99% of leafs nation as never seen this team get to. Our heroes we’ve watched got to the 3rd round what.. 3 times in ours lives 0 finals appearances.
Its my opinion, which isnt worth a pair of nuts on a mouse, but we wouldn’t be bickering cap issues of our top players if they performed like the top players on teams winning cups or going deep consistently.
I get it. Turning 68 on the 1st of August, I saw the last Cup win when I was 9 years old. I always thought that I’d see more Cups, but not even getting to the finals in that time period is a depressing thought. A lot of stupid decisions over the years have caused this deep, dark depression of a once great franchise.

ParticipantThere’s barely anything there .You guys aren’t missing much.
That site is too clunky. Too much and unorganized. If this is the best they can do, I don’t expect to see them around a year from now. This site needs some work, but it’s new and they’ll work out the kinks. Besides, I like the writers on this site.
