A disappointing loss, for sure. But, all in all it was a much better season than any of us expected. Worried that Michkov is becoming another Yakupov. Hopeful for Martone and the other rookies that showed up. Still looking like the Flyers are another 2+ years from the SCF as TBL, FLA, and CAR begin to age and the power structure in the east begins to reset.

From your post… “The Senators have been off for a week after sweeping the Ottawa Senators in the first round.”

Those Senators must have be an extraordinary team to both sweep the series and be swept by themselves. LOL!!!

You’re right, Bill. The only way the Flyers get a true #1 C will be to trade with a team that has one and sees itself going into a full/partial rebuild. And the price will be very steep and will include younger players that have high upside and can be part of a rebuild on that team. These will be players that Flyers fans do not want to part with. Young roster players, perhaps a F and a D along with a prospect and 1R draft pick. And even then, it’s a huge gamble. I don’t see GM DB as a gambler.

The Flyers were not as good as they seemed in the first half of the season and they’re not as bad as they have been recently. This is just water seeking its own level. They will be a lottery team but, regrettably, they’ll be stuck in the mushy middle again.
