This isn’t some magical curse or some other “fans fault” bullshit excuse. Kids who grew up as the “best” player on their teams don’t experience much of that “dig in and try hard” mentality because its always been easy for them.
A lot of us have been saying it for years…the team is filled with players that are too soft and are paid too much so can’t add good players that are not too soft.
It’s not overly complicated. Add hard-nosed players that have had to work their balls off to get to the big league WITH SKILL to this new “CORE” group and watch the difference.

Woll (as a B/U only, for now, needs to find consistency)6 players with a never quit attitude, after you sign FAs Tanev/Jeannot and you have the cap space plus Rielly, Marner and Tavares $ to do it.
If Marner really loved the city of Toronto and wanted to leave on a good note, he would allow a sign and trade so he can get his greedy mitts on 8yr deal and go fluff it on another team and Leafs could get assets back. It’s the best win/win scenario.
And I said it yesterday, Leafs fans in general don’t care about losing (seen enough of it), I bet most of us care more about “HOW” the Leafs lose…aka dry haired Marner yelling at the bench is the exact fucking issue for me.

Acquire: Jeannott, Mantha, Boesner, Bennett, Provorov and pry McTavish out of Anaheim for future 2C = $34M
Adjust top 6 wings, balance out the bottom 6 and one add to the D then go for the Cup for realsies.

Maybe it’s because I am geographically removed from the situation and maybe it’s because I don’t have the Leafer seniority experience many of you do, but I am NOT giving up hope yet.
Nobody expected the defending champs to go down without a fight and nobody realistically expected the Leafs to win in less than 6 or 7 games.
Granted, shitting the bed two games in a row is Leafy as fuck, but Berubae has one last chance to light a fire under this core and I am going to withhold final judgements until we see a handshake line.

It’s not about the defending Champs going down without a fight, it’s about the Leafs “going down” without a fight. Which they do time and time again.
Marner is a junk playoff player. Reilly is done. Matthews is too broken all the time. JT is slow. Nylander is useless alone.
Bennett took out the goalie in Game 1 and not one person on the team did shit to Bennett. Florida has been wrecking our players mentally and physically because they’re weak and easily intimidated. Their talent cannot compensate for their lack of heart.
Leafs have the most expensive and most wrong type of players in the top 6 for playoff hockey. Plain and simple. Same shit different year.

Matthews is injured for sure.
My concern is that he seems to be injured a lot of the time but only sits out a little bit of time here and there. Gotta think its either something chronic that is NOT fixable or he has a lot of different injuries a lot of the time. Both are concerning for me.
Up 2-1 on the Stanley Cup Champs without our real #1G and people don’t seem happy. Sure we were all hoping for the Sweep so we could get passed the past but come on…it’s hockey, the game of inches and little mistakes.
