ParticipantSays the adult pretending to be a Wizard lol
Guess it’s better than being an assuming Assman
wizardofi
ParticipantWe’re still missing Steve from Glencoe
We can never have enough Steve, though Assman is doing a good job in his absence.

ParticipantStill butthurt about the Hoosiers whooping your Illini
I have no clue what this is about. Professional Cornhole since it doesn’t sound like hockey?
wizardofi
ParticipantRiddle me this, Batman…would the Queafs trade Matthews for a #1 RD?
Nice cherry pick Assman.
Would you trade Rinzel or Lev for any of:
Elis Lindholm, Tage Thompson, Sebastion Aho, Roope Hintz, Dylan Larkin, Nick Suzuki, Ziby, Point, Pettersson, Scheifele, Keller?

ParticipantThe big thing is building from the back end. Looks like we have our goaltending, and our top 6 defensemen look like they could be a solid defense of the future. Trading a RHD for a #2 centerman now, a number 3 when Frondell comes over, doesn’t make a lot of sense. Trading a RHD like Arty or Rinzel should get us a bonified #1 centerman plus. Trading Jones with his bulky contract for a young #1 goalie and a 1st round pick shows what RHD are worth, even when trading from a point of serious weakness.

ParticipantI wouldn’t give up Rinzel or Lev for McTavish. He’s a nice to have, but both of these rhd are worth a lot more on the market.
My Minny friends are in full panic mode. If Kiprisov isn’t signed by season start, he’s not signing, regardless of what the wild talking heads say. Imagine if there were questions about Bedard signing and Danny pipes up that things are fine. I would crap myself.

ParticipantBTW, are you the “Wiz” from HB who studies junior hockey and publishes his NHL draft rankings every year?[/quote]
No, that would be Bill Płaczek who posts his draft rankings at https://www.lines.com/nhl/drafts/2026 Solid stuff. I’m the other guy

ParticipantWhat I could not find was specifically whether a team can assign *regular* IR to a player who has “qualified” for LTIR for years (like Weber)
It resets every July 1. They have to show up at the team site in Sept to be evaluated by the team doctors. After that it is up to the GM to put them on IR or LTIR. Once they are put on LTIR, they stay there until they are healthy or July 1, whichever comes first.
Also, since the LTIR is over, they count against the cap over the summer. This can hamper some teams with what they can do in the offseason since they can only go over the cap by 10% in the offseason.
wizardofi
ParticipantAre you sure that they can do this?
In the NHL, Injured Reserve (IR) allows a team to fill a roster spot for a player out for at least seven days but doesn’t provide salary cap relief. Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR) is for players out for at least 10 games and 24 days and provides the team with salary cap relief, allowing them to exceed the cap by the amount of the LTIR player’s salary

ParticipantI’m thinking Arty is going to be in the Rock this year.
Arty didn’t play a bad game, but it wasn’t his best. Once the team got it’s feet under them part way through the 1st, they looked good. Tomorrows game should be a lot better
wizardofi
ParticipantWow, Moore will be wild this year
wizardofi
ParticipantI’m liking this Russian goalie, Bereznoy. Mostly under control, knows where his net is and is square to the shooter.

ParticipantHarding from Rinzel

ParticipantThe Lev-Demidov dynamic reminds me of the Bedard-Michkov arguments for that years draft. Funny thing is I hear no one comparing Celebrini and Demidov, even on Montreal boards
wizardofi
ParticipantMostly agree with you Ricochet. Buium reminds me of Dougie Hamilton. Lots or PP points, but really a #5 defenseman. Demidov will be flashy and put up points. Unfortunately, I don’t see any resemblance to Datsyuk other than he’s Russian. Will be a defensive liability as he’s already shown. Lev will end up a #1 RHD against the strongest opponents within the next 2 years, and putting up points. Kind of a Seabrook+. 3 years away from a top 3 for the Norris.
