The NHL has no integrity. These Refs are horrible. The slash happened right in front of him and then he is so thin-skinned that he has to call Bedard for unsportsmanlike conduct. He blew it and he had to hide his embarrassment. Why doesn’t the NHL protect players’ heads? The NFL goes out of its way to do it. Twice in the last two games! The NHL will never be anything more than a junior league. Their officiating is crap!

They will never tell us but they have to if they want to preserve the integrity of the NHL

    Thanks boiler

And Blashill is 100% correct about the call on the ice last night and how the ref handled it.

I imagine the league has to investigate the ref last night for the series of calls or non calls that put Seattle in a position to win.

There’s a whole complete articles here on HHS on team speed rankings.

Best & Worst: Who are the Fastest and Slowest Teams in the NHL?

You’re right: even if the Hawks sit low in overall top speed and 20-mph bursts, the fact they’re 12th in bursts over 22 MPH is huge. That tells you the young core has real skating potential. And the most impressive part? All the young defensemen have hit 22+ MPH already.

And you nailed it on Crevier — he actually leads the team in hardest shot, hitting over 102 mph. That’s elite power, and it’s becoming a real weapon for him.

Love conversations like this. It shows how fast this young group is growing. Thanks for your comment

Incredibly the Hawks 19 games in are top 5 in GF and GA as well as tied for 3rd in goal differential!…. Lotta things have to go right for that to happen, especially a young club learning all new systems under a new coach…. Regression will come in some form but so will improvements, maybe even to a wash.

Looks like Bert draws back in tonight. He skated at the morning skate ad Blashill expects him in tonight………. SEA plays a yuk it up, take no chances, capitalize on mistakes frustrating brand of hockey. These kinds are a test for young skilled clubs and if they can stay disciplined/structured. 1 goal down is a test for SEA and their kind so any addition that can have an effect in the Ozone is helpful on top of what Bert brings to the PP. Good to see Bert back.

You know Frenchy we had discussed the speed of the Blackhawks on the Calgary game log and i was curious,

The Blackhawks may be 31st in top speed by any player on the team, they may be 24th on speed bursts over 20mph, but an interesting thing i see is they are 12th with bursts over 22mph, 26 times.

Then i dug a bit deeper, do you know all of our young dmen have recorded speed bursts of over 22mph? That’s fantastic and all of our young forwards have except for Greene and Moore. Greene makes it up with hockey IQ, and Moore will eventually hit over 23mph.

I didn’t realize how hard Creviers shot had gotten 7 shots of over 90mph and his best 102.41.

because the puck was always at the other end

They have to get better, for sure.

Crawford faced just over 27 shots/game average during the ’13, ’13/14 and ’14/15 seasons.
Knight has seen 32.5/game so far this year.
note: Some of those SOG from the Cup era were probably score affected.

    High Danger Save %
Knight is at 88.9% so far this season. Best among goalies w/ 6 or more games played this season.
Across the ’13, ’13/14 and ’14/15 seasons Crawford had a 83.6 save % on High Danger.

    BUT
Crawford only faced 7.3 high danger shots per game over those seasons.
Knight is facing 9.7/game. They need to cut down on the time and space opponents are getting against them.

That’s it for now, my head hurts from all the maths.

I don’t think you’ll find this anywhere online, but I broke it down for you:

    Thanks for this info Frenchy.

The stat I’m looking for is probably not available at all. (I’m probably the only person who even cares lol)
For example, last night the Hawks played 48:44 of the game with a 1 or 0 goal differential.
My point is, I think there were dozens of hours of game time in the past 2 seasons where the Hawks were down 2 goals or more.
No matter what you might say about how “it toughens you up” it’s better imo if they spend more minutes in each game with the game in doubt.
