Still think Briere should trade one of the later 2nd round picks to VAN for Thatcher Demko. Makes no sense for VAN to invest 9.5 million in goal with Demko being a UFA next summer. A low risk gamble for the Flyers, who can bury Fedotov in LV. If Demko regains his form, he could be a solid bridge to one of the young prospects and possibly get re signed next summer. If the plan is to wait to ’26 to go for it, I would think the regime would want some better answers in goal then currently available. Tocchet should have good intel on how he was progressing from his injury. Doubtful any decent free agents or players with a NTC would have much interest coming to a team with consistent bottom 5 goal tending.

what makes you think vancouver will trade him at this time while his value is likely low. probably want to see him in action to see if can still be effective if healthy. now if they are just looking to dump him then that changes things. Also think they want to get back to the playoffs and Demko helps that.

correct unless their last contract with lots of money. landscape has changed dramatically. not in the flyers favor at all.

here is hoping the flyer acquire him. What do you think it would take? is he better at his job than ND? A ND upgrade would be a smart move no?

60 PIMS must be the most effective enforcer in the league. Wonder if Florida would consider moving him, as he can’t add value to the flyers lineup. can’t underestimate that cup experience.

I would argue the Flyers have not won in 50 years because of lack of evaluation for goaltending. Clarke believed the team could carry a goaltender and was more dependent on the team in front of him. Cats have a stud in goal and dedicated the cap space to secure his services. Been a very long time since the Flyers have played a goaltender who was even a fringe Vezina candidate. The position present day looks bleak and with some hope way into the future. I hope there is more to the plan.

I hope Briere does not bypass Hagens because of lack of size. If the organization has an abundance of small forwards, just trade the small forwards who are not as good as Hagens for other assets. I cannot fathom not drafting Hagens because the Flyers already have Brink, Barkey, Michkov, and TK in the organization. Draft prospects who have a realistic chance to be elite.

it isnt just one thing. it is cumulative. goalie a big part of it. Sadly when you look at who the flyers lost too, they were fn dynasties. Doesn’t excuse the loss mind you.

Briere has loved Hagans for 2 years. Thinks he can be the #1 franchise center. Do not think that has changed. No can they get him? What’s mind boggling knowing he loves him so much they didn’t put themselves in the best position to draft him.

I just do not trust the flyers drafting war room. After the #6 I think they are going to go for size size and more size with other picks. Even though they are years away. I want them to take risk to get high end talent not the safe will play in the nhl type.

outside of MM and TK those other small players are bit parts who you should have problem moving on from at any time.

I agree it does look bleak for the next 4-5 years. unless 100% luck falls their way.

Yeah. SKILL being the operative word here. The Flyers haven’t won anything in 50 years because they don’t prioritize skill over any other trait. Florida has size but they also have tons of skill.

hope they take the safe 200 ft player as can never have enough of those.

looking forward to the flyers emulating the panthers and on the path to future success.

York, first and foremost. But also someone like Pelletier, who he didn’t think could play and hardly gave a chance to prove otherwise. Shaw did, thankfully, and then the Calgary version the player soon re-emerged.

    has to be others.

their core is/was built on their draft picks. that is a 100% fact.

go flyers become the next panthers. you can do it.

why be a fan? I am at the point where I enjoy watching them fail more than win. that is what they have turned me into. all about the entertainment

my dude the flyers are so far off from being able to lick florida’s ass it is sad. that is how far behind they are.

florida will likely be bad again then good before the flyers are competitive. let that sink in.

when you emulate the most recent cup winner you likely fall behind. dont be a follower be a leader. florida has made smart moves. flyers are incapable of making smart moves or being a leader.
when you look at floridas drafts the last 8 years years they have received virtually no help from said drafts. makes their run even more impressive.

The problem is they need a #1 defenseman. Just getting another top 4 plug-in doesn’t move the needle.

Also need another top 3/4 guy. Does any other team need more than what the flyers need? Goalie, Centers, Dman.
