The Flyers presented a competitive offer, but Briere was only willing to stretch it so far despite the team’s dire need for a proven power play quarterback at the point.

other teams have more to offer. add in the fact why leave columbus for flyers as pretty much same situation. plus danny loves this team.
they should not have martone in that rookie camp. rather they held out barkey and bump as well.

No doubt they have benoit slotted into the top 6. Guess the flyers didnt watch the cup finals. Seeler-Benoit-Risto. All one can do shake their head. Though Seeler will be gone in the nurse trade.
The Flyers rebuild/retool is hopefully just about over. The Flyers don’t have any Centers in the system that are anywhere near making it to the NHL. If the Flyers make the playoffs, I think it will draw some quality free agents during the off season. Briere made good moves signing Vladar and trading for Zegras. With the dead money from Hayes, Atkinson and Laughton coming off the books this summer, Briere should have some money to spend to get us a quality Center in free agency.
let that sink in and see all they really have to show for it is MM and Martone. I see the Ronald Hextall path. 1 year in 1 year out. No real threat. No real legit top end team. Guess that is the new norm for the Flyers. Accept mediocrity.
MM gets traded IMO
I am all in on this team making the playoffs, because if they don’t, it will be a disaster. Another year on the outside looking in, but this time with a draft pick in the late teens. I feel like they will be offer sheeting Fantilli or Carlsson because that is the only way they get a true #1 center.
why would carlson leave the ducks? Fantilli is possible he would sign though they match. better off working out a trade.
go fyers brick by brick. This team will be nasty to play against if they sneak in the playoffs. That building will be rocking. If you took a poll bet other teams would say the flyers are the one they don’t want to go against.
the pressure then amps up 10 fold on danny boy. as there would be no turning back now. can danny boy deal with that heat.
whether they make the playoffs or not, there is no real path to cup contention nor is there a real long term plan.
