Are things getting interesting already this season with the Flyers win last night against Seattle? There aren’t really any stars to speak on the team, they also lack any sort of depth down the middle and their defence is suspect at best, does Tocchet just have them playing well enough to be competitive on a nightly basis? He’s going to ruin my rebuild narrative if they don’t stop being competitive against these middle tier teams!

I think they’ve been interesting all along. You could see it coming if you knew what you were looking at.

they are a boring bland team. not interesting in the least.

revise this discussion at the Olympic break. way too early to make any conclusions.

what happens when the goalie reverts back to his career numbers? or even a small uptick.

So this is what competent goaltending looks like. I am pleasantly surprised with Vladar so far, no shade. Tocchet should continue to ride him as his #1 goalie and Ersson as the backup until Vladar’s performance significantly dips. The abundance of top 9 wingers in the organization still makes me believe a trade for a Dman or center is coming over the next calendar year.

one big issue is teams are hurting for centers. are they going to give up what the flyers need?

when they add martone in April they will have one of the best forward groups in the league. he will be that good.

you also forgot bonk. adding risto and bonk and subtracting ginning and juulson will give the flyers a top 10 cup contending defense.

They already have a Top 10 team defense.

what a D group the GM has assembled. Risto may not have a spot.

when are they eligible to extend Vlader?

I must say that will be an impressive feet. The team has “bought” what coach tocchet is selling. You can see it in their play. Hopefully the GM is able to identify the weak spots and add some reinforcements via trader. This group deserves at least that much as they are not hat far off.

Risto will be a reinforcement on D. They’re fine up front.

did you miss the part where I said that?

    raise the 6 game banner.

It’ll be the October banner. They’ll hold a playoff spot on Nov 1. They have games in hand and winnable games vs. OTT and NYI.

flyers holding down a wildcard spot. go flyers. brick by brick.

What’s wrong with enjoying the moment? Six games in last year, they were 1-4-1, scored 13 goals and gave up 25.

This year, they’re 3-2-1, have scored 18 goals and given up 16. That’s a very encouraging upgrade. They are in a playoff spot right now and actually have a game in hand or two over the teams right behind them. Facts are you friends.

Just stick with the process, if there is one? This team needs a few more bottom of the league finishes to acquire some actual top line talent, specifically at center. Couturier may become a good trade chip come Dec/Jan, if that’s something he’s willing to entertain.

Much like the former captain he is content and comfortable. He and others can talk all they want about winning. If he is healthy all year as I said before, and he has any ounce of wanting to win he will ask out. I will not hold my breath he will. 4.5 years left on his deal. Lack of quality centers in the league. Cap rising. Maybe a team would take a chance. Especially being he wouldn’t have to be their top center.

Also do you really see the flyers asking him to waive his NTC? I don’t think they have any interest in moving him. They view him as a key piece moving forward.

All above applies to the two lovers in TK and Sanheim.

The top 4 D is carrying the load, which is both good and bad. Usually teams don’t play their 3rd pair around 10 mins/game until the playoffs, not in October. Full credit to Vladar for taking advantage of his opportunity. It has been refreshing watching Flyers get above .900 save % for multiple games for a goalie. Does not happen very often over the last couple of years. Dvorak is such a redundant center for what is already on the roster with Couts and Cates. I sure hope the plan is to trade him by the deadline. TK and Michkov have not worked together all season. With the insistence of keeping the Cates line in tact, sure seems like the move is to place TK with Zegras and Dvorak. The coaching staff seems like there is a red line that Zegras and Michkov cannot play together at 5 on 5 with the year being described as “we want to better then last season, but do not have to make the playoffs”.

    a re-sign is more likely

they want the playoffs very badly. that is the focus

    – Crucial 2 points. This type of win is one that can turn the season around. 1 point out of the wild card

    – 22 shots including OT. Love it. against the “worse” defensive team. Can’t wait for the spin from the flyer felator.

    – MM with the lowest 5 on 5 time out of the top 9 forwards. maybe needs a seat in the press box. like I said the other day the coach has no idea what to do with him. Hope he asks out at some point. when does mm rumors for Hughes start …

-Good to see Zegras taking face offs as that will help him with his development in the future playing center for the flyers

    – wild played the prior night did the flyers ?

    – Juulson rules. Def has more to offer than Andre. Clear as day flyers made the right call.

    – if there really is interest in tippet move him asap

    – tocchet is a bozo and briere a putz/puppet

    – That arena is dead. Quiet as can be. 16k last game. 17k tonight. hopefulyl peeps are waking up.

    – If TK, Sanheim , and ex selke have any ounce of pride they would ask for a trade.

    – just an uninspiring roster and coach. Boring stale and bland.

-what has changed in style of play from last year excluding blocking shots. PP still a joke. maybe it wasnt rocky…..

    – ND bringing the energy. he sets the tone. Flyers need him in the lineup if they want to hang in this playoff race. His vet calming presence is underrated. He can have an impact in his 8 minutes

    – good showcase/ get your head out your ass for zamula. Plenty of upside still there and I think this staff can unlock it

    – boucher and JJ should just blow each other already

the jett and russuan#2 scratched. brick by brick.

cant wait to hear the sin on another dumb decision.

ROFL. If he’s not good enough to be in the lineup, even on the 4th line (stupid), what is he doing here? I guess nobody in the Philly brain trust wanted a side by side comparison that even the people who buy their PR bull would get.

As i’ve said all year, play the kids and let them sink or swim, screw the heavy vet lineup which does nothing for the team. Also, if you want to “develop” Jett’s offensive instincts, put him in a position to make some plays. If he isn’t good enough for that he belongs somewhere else. The Flyers have just screwed up so badly with how they yoyo this kid. It has been determined that ND is more valuable to the lineup than Jett or Greb. Crazy.

Also as a reminder, Andrae is a top 6 dman on this team and the only game they’ve won so far was with him on the back end making the right play in getting the puck out of the zone, reliably. He’s not back in the AHL because of merit, it’s bias.

no worries tocchet is on the scene. the 3rd vancouver reject coach in a row thw flyers have hired.

both just piss poor franchises. buff with a “huge” win today.
