Jets

The Winnipeg Jets returned home Tuesday night and defeated their Central Division foe, the St. Louis Blues, in a 3-1 game. Eric Comrie got the win for the Jets. Mark Scheifele continued his stretch of hot play with another three points (2G, 1A). He now leads the team with 25 goals and 61 points on the year.

Goal #10 for #44

Josh Morrissey had a great game with a goal and two assists. He now has 42 points through 49 games this season. In addition to putting up great offensive stats, he continues to play over 20 minutes a game against opposing teams better forwards while maintaining a traditional +14 rating. Safe to say, Morrissey is still the unquestioned #1 defenceman for the Jets team.

Struggling Perfetti

Coming into the season, it seemed as if Cole Perfetti was primed for a breakout campaign. He was Winnipeg’s Game Seven savior against the Blues last April. However, thus far, the season has been a nightmare for young Perfetti. He has 14 points through 35 games and only three goals in that time. He is in a contract year being an RFA at seasons end. The way the season has unfolded for him, I can’t imagine anything but another bridge deal for him if he is indeed still on the Jets roster
come next season.

Playoff Picture

With seven games remaining until the Olympic break, the Jets find themselves seven points out of the last wildcard spot for the playoffs. They have gone 5-1-1 in their last 7 games. In order to make a push for the playoffs once the season has resumed, it is imperative that the Jets are within striking distance and no more than 4 points out of playoff position. There are currently 5 teams between them and the San Jose Sharks for last playoff spot.

The Jets are back in action on Thursday evening when they welcome the defending back-to-back Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers to the Canada Life Centre. The Panthers are still led by long-time Jets coach Paul Maurice.

Heritage Classic 2026

It was announced earlier that next season (Oct. 24, 2026) to be exact, the City of Winnipeg will host its second Heritage Classic. The Jets will host the Montreal Canadians at Princess Auto Stadium. In addition to the Heritage game, an alumni game will also be played the day before.

The preliminary roster for the Jets alumni includes former Jets captains Blake Wheeler and Andrew Ladd. The roster also includes many other fan favourites such as Dustin Byfuglien, Bryan Little, Paul Stastny, Matthieu Perreault and Chris Thorburn.
