New Canadiens Connection: Deadline Preview

We’ve officially reached that point in the season where everything starts to tighten up — because the NHL trade deadline is just days away.

As for the Montreal Canadiens, this isn’t just about making a move for the sake of making a move. It’s about direction, timing, and whether this management team sees an opportunity to adjust something now — or stay patient.

There are some obvious talking points, like Patrik Laine’s situation, but the bigger question is: what actually makes sense for where this team is right now? And how is the trade landscape changing day by day in this final stretch?

Perhaps it’s well-timed that the team will be together on a California road trip when the deadline arrives. Head coach Marty St. Louis suggested that the schedule may work in their favor, saying “The deadline is always difficult for everyone. The fact that we’re going to be together, I think that’s going to be positive.”
