Flyers Daily: Sept. 15, 2025
In a 42-minute “Mondays with Meltzer” edition of Flyers Daily, host Jason Myrtetus and I deconstruct the weekend’s two-game Rookie Series between Philadelphia’s prospects and their New York Rangers counterparts. Apart from the games themselves — a 4-3 overtime win on Friday and a 5-2 loss on Saturday — we discuss which players stood out for different reasons. Additionally, we talk about new Phantoms head coach John Snowden. Players discussed include:
- Alex Bump
- Jack Nesbitt
- Nikita Grebenkin
- Alexis Gendron
- Spencer Gill
- Samu Tuomaala
- Hunter McDonald
- Ethan Samson
Jason and I also talk about Sunday’s trade that sent Ivan Fedotov to the Columbus Blue Jackets. For an in-depth Rookie Series wrapup article from the two games, click here. Meanwhile, for a look at why both Philly and Blue Jackets made the Fedotov deal, click here.
The Week Ahead: Rookie Camp and NHL Camp
Sunday was an off-day at Rookie Camp. Practice resumes on Monday and Tueday at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees. Flyers general manager Daniel Briere will address the media on Tuesday, overlapping with the final day of Rookie Camp at the FTC. The next day is the annual media Day, with no on-ice activity. NHL camp starts subsequently. There is a Saturday scrimmage on the docket in Voorhees. Preseason NHL hockey opens Sunday with a road game against the New York Islanders in Elmont, New York.
Thereafter, preseason games and practices take place on an alternating-day basis. The home preseason opener at Xfinity Mobile Arena is on September 27 against the Boston Bruins.
