Reports: NHL, NHLPA Reach New Collective Bargaining Agreement

The National Hockey League and NHL Players’ Association put out a joint press release on Thursday. According to multiple reports, the league and the union have reached an agreement in principle on a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The new CBA will take effect for the 2026-27 season and feature an 84-game schedule for all clubs. It will run for four seasons. The reported new agreement also features a playoff salary cap, the elimination of deferred compensation and changes to contract term and bonus structure provisions.

Representatives from the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and National Hockey League (NHL) will conduct a joint media availability at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET on Friday, June 27, in advance of the start of the 2025 Upper Deck NHL Draft.

The availability will be held in the interview area of L.A. Live’s Peacock Theater. It also will be broadcast live on NHL Network and NHL.com.
