The Mammoth Are Best in The West

The Utah Mammoth continue to stomp through their competition. They now have an 8-2-0 record through ten games. For a team with high hopes this season, they’re off to a great start. Their 16 points have them sitting at the top of the Western Conference. Mammoth’s GM Bill Armstrong has assembled a team that never quits.

Leading the way is Nick Schmaltz. He is first in points for the Mammoth with seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in ten games. Next is Clayton Keller with 12 points in ten games. Then Logan Cooley and Dylan Guenther, who each have 11 points in ten games. Not exactly how some would have drawn it up before the season, but it’s working. The team still needs more from JJ Peterka and Mikhail Sergachev.

After losing two of their first three games, the Mammoth have now won seven in a row. During their winning streak, no one has become more clutch than Dylan Guenther. He is Mr. Clutch this season. Through ten games, he has four game-winning goals already. Guenther is looking to surpass the 60 points he registered last season. He is well on his way.

Mammoth Look to Keep Stomping

The Mammoth are looking to continue their stomping ways on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton is off to a slow 4-4-1 start. They could be just the team Guenther and company need to push their winning streak to eight games. After their game against the Oilers, Utah will be off for four days before hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning on November 2nd. An opening month record of 9-2-0 seems attainable. I don’t think the Mammoth could ask for a better start regardless of Tuesday night’s outcome.

The Mammoth will have 15 games in November. They will embark on a four-game Eastern Conference road trip and a four-game homestand. A funny quirk in the schedule is that Utah will only face a divisional rival four times next month. Two of those will be against the Vegas Golden Knights.
