The Utah Mammoth’s top five prospects, according to the NHL, are out. The league has been putting out every team’s top five prospects as we get closer to the start of the 2026-27 season. Utah has a decent top five, and it proves that they plan on building for the future while also being a contender.

Leading the list is Tij Iginla. Iginla is expected to make the NHL roster to start the 2026-27 season. He registered 41 goals and 49 assists for 90 points in just 48 WHL games.
Caleb Desnoyers, who is number two on the list, seems injured and may need to be fully healthy before trying to reach the NHL. He registered 22 goals and 56 assists for 78 points in 45 QMJHL games last season.
Interestingly, newly acquired goalie Sebastian Cossa, drafted 15th overall in the 2023 NHL draft, ranks third on the NHL’s list for Utah. Cossa was acquired to back up Karel Vejmelka and become the franchise’s future goalie.
Utah Prospects to Round Out the Top Five
At number four is the newest first-round selection by Utah, the 17th overall pick in the 2025 draft, Ethan Belchetz. Belchetz fell a few spots in the draft, allowing the Mammoth to trade up and nab him. He registered 34 goals and 25 assists for 59 points in the OHL last season. His overall size (6’5) makes Belchetz a very intriguing prospect.
Finally, at number five, we have defenseman Dmitri Simashev. Drafted sixth overall in 2023, Simashev will have some big responsibilities in 2026-27. After losing some defensemen, Utah places a lot of hope in him and hopes he can reach the next level. The defenseman could be key to Utah’s defense. It’s no surprise he ranks so high.
