Rick Tocchet’s Philadelphia Flyers find themselves in an 0-2 hole in their Easter Conference Semifinal series against the Carolina Hurricanes. On Wednesday, they take on the Carolina Hurricanes in Game Three at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
In Game Two on Monday, the Flyers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Jamie Drysdale (PPG, 2nd) and Sean Couturier (1st). Later, a Nikolaj Ehlers goal (PPG, 1st) narrowed the deficit to 2-1.
The Flyers held the one goal lead until the latter half of the third period. Finally, at 11:21, Seth Jarvis (1st) knotted the score to force overtime. In sudden death, the Flyers controlled most of the play. Most notably, Travis Konecny had the game on his stick with a clear breakaway. At 18:51, Taylor Hall (3rd) scored in a scramble near the net to end the game.
In a losing cause, Dan Vladar made 38 saves on 41 shots. Frederik Andersen stopped 34 of 36 shots for Carolina. Andersen allowed two goals on the first three shots he faced and then made 33 saves in a row for the win.

Injury updates
The Flyers had an optional morning skate at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Thursday. Here are the latest injury updates.
- Noah Cates (lower body) has been ruled out for the remainder of the series. The two-way forward needed assistance to get back to the locker room in Monday’s game.
- Christian Dvorak (undisclosed) took a maintenance day on Wednesday but is expected to play in Game Three.
- Owen Tippett (lower body) practiced on Wednesday but mostly on his own. He skated on Thursday. The bad news: He’s not yet physically ready to play in the series, and is desperately needed. The good news: he’s getting close to being able to try and play. If the Flyers can find a way to win Game Three and get on the board in the series, the outlook brightens a bit.
Luchanko recalled
On Wednesday, the Flyers added 2024 first-round pick Jett Luchanko playoff roster. His Brantford Bulldogs team was knocked out of the Ontario Hockey League playoffs by the Barrie Colts after holding a three games to one lead in the series. The Bulldogs lost back-to-back overtime decisions and then got shut out, 5-0, at home on Monday in Game Seven.
Luchanko, who will turn 20 in late August, will play his first full pro season in 2026-27. Tocchet indicated after Wednesday’s practice that Luchanko is a depth option in case of additional injuries in the lineup.

Meanwhile, team captain Sean Sean Couturier, Trevor Zegras, Travis Sanheim, Rasmus Ristolainen, Jamie Drysdale and Cam York all took off Wednesday morning in order to rest for the game.

50th Anniversary: Cold War in Philly
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Flyers victory over the seemingly unbeatable Red Army (CSKA) team at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Filmmaker Joe Amodei (Virgil Films), painstakingly retraced the historic game and its deeper political and societal implications in his new documentary entitled Cold War in Philly.
On May 27, the exclusive world premiere of the documentary will be held at the Suzanne Roberts Theater in Philadelphia. Most of the surviving Flyers alumni who played in the game will be on hand for a reunion gathering and Q&A session. Thereafter, there will be other showings at select theaters in the Delaware Valley.
