The Utah Mammoth have acquired Vincent Trocheck from the New York Rangers. Defenseman Sean Durzi, forward Ian Cole, and a conditional third-round pick in 2027 are going to New York.
Trocheck was one of the top centers on the trade market this summer and comes with two years left on his contract. The 32-year-old is under contract through the 2028-29 season with a $5.625 million cap hit. He had a no-movement clause the first three years of his deal, signed in July 2022, but that shifted to a 12-team no-trade list last summer. It moved to a 10-team list on Wednesday.
The Rangers considered moving Trocheck at the NHL trade deadline in March, but opted to hold on to him, hoping for a better return this summer. The Mammoth were interested in Trocheck, but it was unclear if he’d accept a trade to Utah. There was speculation that he wanted to stay on the East Coast.
Luckily for Mammoth GM Bill Armstrong, Trocheck agreed to a deal. Adding him to an already decent top-six is something that Armstrong is hoping will get them further in the NHL playoffs. Utah wants to go from being a playoff contender to a Stanley Cup contender.
Trocheck registered 16 goals and 37 assists for 53 points in 67 games last season. He was also part of the United States team that won a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
Mammoth Sign Anders Lee
Anders Lee signed a three-year, $16.2 million contract with the Utah Mammoth on Wednesday. It has an average annual value of $5.4 million. The forward, who turns 36 on Friday, registered 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 points in 82 games for the New York Islanders last season. He was the Islanders captain since the start of the 2018-19 season.
“Anders is one of the most respected leaders in the NHL, and we are very proud that he chose Utah,” Mammoth general manager Bill Armstrong said. “He is one of the best net front players in the game and one of the most durable guys in the League. He will be a great fit on the ice for our young players and an even better role model off the ice as a past King Clancy Memorial Trophy winner. We look forward to introducing Anders into the community.”
