For 35 minutes, a young Vancouver Canucks lineup hung tough against the Calgary Flames’ (mostly) NHL lineup. They even stood up to the Flames in a physical sense.  But once Joel Farabee scored on the power play, the Flames were able to put the game away, 3-1.

Adam Novotny had two great chances in the second; one missed the net. On the other, Dustin Wolf made the save. But he was also part of the draw confusion on. Matt Coronato’s  3-0 goal. There has been some discussion about the possibility of Novotny getting games with Abbotsford. The right thing to do for him is Peterborough in the OHL.

Aatu Raty impressed on Tuesday. Raty was solid on face-offs (12-for-16) two shots on goal, and drew a penalty in 12:55 of ice time. This was his second, and last, preseason game. He needed this kind of game to stick in the Canucks lineup. 

I also liked Arshdeep Bains. He scored the Canucks loan goal. He worked well wth Raty and has had some chemistry with Braeden Cootes this preseason. We seem to know who Bains is as a hockey player. But I thought he deserved some credit.
