On April 25th, the Montreal Canadiens led their first round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning, two games to one. On the eve of Game 4, Martin St. Louis shared how he disconnects from hockey.

“I watch Seinfeld,” he said. “I have probably watched it four times in a row. To me, Seinfeld is the show that can let me disconnect from everything. It is a ‘show about nothing,’ so you can just think about nothing.”

While the coach had trouble identifying his favourite episode, he did declare George Costanza, played by Jason Alexander, as his favourite character.

Three months later, St. Louis met Jerry Seinfeld, star of the sitcom. Seinfeld was performing on Thursday, at Place-des-Arts theater as part of the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. The Habs bench boss presented the comedian a personalized number 1 Canadiens jersey before his performance.

Earlier this week, the Canadiens officially announced Derek Lalonde as associate coach. Sportsnet reported that Trevor Letowski had stepped away from his role, but the team has not confirmed any additional staff changes, and Letowski remains listed as an assistant on the club’s website.

Rocket Eyeing Record

As part of its 10th anniversary, the Laval Rocket announced the annual Teddy Bear Toss game will take place at the Bell Centre. The Teddy Bear Toss is a tradition in minor hockey. Fans bring stuffed animals to the game and throw them onto the ice all at once the moment the home team scores its first goal. All the toys tossed onto the ice are collected and distributed to families and children in need.

The game will be on Sunday, November 22nd, against the Calgary Wranglers, Flames’ AHL affiliate. The Rocket are aiming to set a new attendance record for a team affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens. Laval played the entire 2020-21 season at the Bell Centre when local COVID regulations forbid fans in the building.
