Bill MeltzerKeymasterI have to leave shortly for Allentown. Won’t have time to do a Quick Hits blog until late tonight. I did write a Phantoms-related article earlier today for the Flyers’ official site.

Bill MeltzerKeymasterWith apologies to the late Mitch Hedberg: Goalie drafting is like a baked potato in a conventional oven. Draft one even if you don’t really want it right now. By time it’s ready, who knows?

yes its me 2050ParticipantI would expect the Flyers to potentially take the first goalie (Ravensbergen) off the board as well.
With carson and the russian you think they use one of the late first on that goalie? that would be a waste to me unless they grade the raven higher than those 2.
is kolosov headed back to europe?

ParticipantI think it is with the Avs or Oilers pick that the Flyers SHOULD take a home run swing on a high risk high reward player like Ryabkin. THoughts on whether he will be there Bill? And do you also think he may slip as low as the Flyers first 2nd round pick?
I hear about commitment and character issues but you can’t deny the skills. Maybe they take a shot and Michkov’s work ethic rubs off on him.

Bill MeltzerKeymasterI think some team will grab Lakovic before the Avs pick comes up for Philly. If he’s there, it’s worth a shot. With all of those first and second pound picks (if they keep them), I would expect the Flyers to potentially take the first goalie (Ravensbergen) off the board as well.

yes its me 2050ParticipantBill Any thoughts on Lynden Lakovic? Will he be around with the Avs pick

ParticipantThe only consensus top 6 prospect who is viewed to definitely stay at center in the pros is Desnoyers from what I have read. Ultimately, other prospects could also play center. Misa, Frondell and Hagens could just as easily be moved to wing. Certainly, it is subjective and scouting depts will differ.

yes its me 2050ParticipantPut a huge value on finding the next Tkachuk or Knies.
what orginization will value that the most……
Briere thinks Hagans is that franchise center. That is why I think they will try very hard to move up a few spots. Maybe Bill can chime in on what he knows on what Briere thinks of him.

ParticipantI have this feeling both Martone and Martin will be gone by 6. After Schaefer, no presumed franchise Dmen available. None of the center prospects are considered bona fide #1 centers. Teams value wingers with size who have skill. Put a huge value on finding the next Tkachuk or Knies.
