Mr Ricochet
ParticipantIf you haven’t noticed there has been a spam attack on the main Chicago Blackhawks forum page. There are literally pages and pages full of bogus topics. I mentioned it to Frenchy in the comments section of his blog this morning. Hopefully, he can contact site administration and get things fixed.
As these spam forum topics are generated, our General Comments forum could get lost down the pages and make it difficult to find. When new comments are posted here it will go back to the top of page 1, but it eventually will fall down the list. Maybe when you visit here you can bookmark this comments page (currently we’re on page 19) to bring it up more quickly the next time, instead of “leafing” through the pages looking for this forum.
nice job giving Frenchy a heads up…….. And you’re right that spam bot is AI and has the ability to mess things up and as you say, in a big way.. For our USHL message board I was told unless I get good software that is constantly updated we’d be vulnerable. So I did and coughed the 400 bucks. Then you need a tech guy to come in and fix things a few times a yr and do the updates. Cost me 100 bucks every time this dude visited and he felt sorry for me and worked dirt cheap.
The place is still wonky. Sometimes the spell check works sometimes not. Same with posts, there are times it doesn’t take and that sucks out loud. That means there are bugs in the software and that means calling the tech guy/webmaster and dig into your wallet. … If not the funk gets worse.
Point is it takes time and money to run a place. I hope the managers of this site know this cuz obviously thru ignorance or malfeasance this joint is under attack. Guys like Meltzer have to know this…… I like the joint but I’m here for Frenchy. I came up spades clicking this link you posted cuz a blogger who scouted the USHL and juniors and cut up film is a dream for me to read. I think Frenchy is gonna end up behind a paywall somewhere so I’m gonna enjoy him while I can.
Lotta the good bloggers from HB are here. This place has a lotta potential.

Participant
I would not offer Artie or Rinzel, and Crevier and a pick won’t do it. It’s going to take a combination of Reichel, Allan, Kaiser, KK, and a high pick, along with Dickinson with 50% retained, and Verbeek could still say no.
I think Verbeek may still have nightmares after re-signing former 1st round pick Zegras two years ago after back-to-back solid 60+ pt seasons then regressed exponentially. McTavish is also a 1st round pick and was from the previous regime. CapWages has his expected AAV to be around $6.7 million. Verbeek had re-signed Zegras in 2023-24 season for $5.7 million.
They just traded Zegras for a 4th liner and two draft picks (2nd and 4th). Ducks look solid with their forwards but their defense is sus. Two vets (one being dumbass Gudas) and 5 rookies and we all know how Q feels about young inexperienced d-men. Murph only played for Q for 1+ season but could see if he’s interested in reuniting as part of a deal. Sure Verbeek would re-sign him as well with all that cap space and Q’s fascination for vet d-men. Murph’s done in Chicago by the TDL regardless so keep Grizz as the vet d-man in this scenario. Hell, give hem Murph and Crevier.September 20, 2025 at 2:42 pm #32178Angotti

ParticipantI agree with a lot of what you say but i wouldn’t give up a Rinzel or Arty, maybe an Allan or Kaiser I’m selfish that way. It’s so hard to get players with the ability and size and position of those 2.
Id rather take my chances on the plethora of forwards in the system. Just because the Ducks are bad at negotiating in no way we should do them any favors.
Offer Crevier and a draft pick for McTavish’s rights then keep Grizz for 7th d-man. The plethora of forwards you speak of are still mostly in juniors/college. McTavish is already a solid NHLer paying for a boner of a franchise. Also brings some sandpaper that this 23-man roster lacks especially the forwards group.
ParticipantBesides when i think about Arty and KK playing together, it’s actually the responsibility of one of the forwards to recognize that the defenseman activated and cover for them.
Not exactly. One of them has to stay back and both their games thrive when they’re the one that “activates”. Not only do they not make sense even one iota as a pairing but they’d also dwarf each other’s development. Arty might be best served learning at the NHL level and have vets whip him into shape while KK needs to stay in Rockford and develop this season before he turns into Adam Boqvist 2.0

ParticipantAssMan, are you comfortable with just Murphy as your only vet on defense and the rest young or straight up rookies with all having less than 100-150 NHL games with no safety net on the roster or even at RKF? … I think it’s just crazy for a club looking to be more competitive, without some crazy anchor contract vet from outside vesthe system, and a young stud goalie taking the reigns as an NHL starter for the first time in his NHL career.
I love the idea of having a solid vet who can still play on 2 of the 3 D pairings. It gives Blashil some structure every system needs and still leaves 2-3 spots open for whichever kid/prospect plays best and earns a spot. The rest go to RKF and develops.
Yes. Also, I don’t consider Vlasic young/rookie anymore. He’s played 179 NHL games with mostly top line mins so he’s over the hump in my opinion. I like having Grizz as the 7th d-man and feel like we’re stuck with Crevier on a 1-way contract taking up a valuable roster spot in a growth year for no reason. Trade him to a team in cap hell or release him. Edmonton would make a lot of sense. Keep checking in with Anaheim and McTavish in case a deal could be worked out.September 20, 2025 at 11:36 am #31796BetweenTheDots
