ParticipantIt’s success when Arty plays physical with restraint.
Kaiser had some unsettled play early on, and then Vlasic settles things with his point shot, and we all revel in #73 two periods (‘tween the 2nd-3rd now for me), but the b‘awk forward driving speed was the difference.
Burkowsky did disappoint in several scoring chances.
Cannot wait for a fast 3rd.October 15, 2025 at 1:11 pm #42422Breagbag
ParticipantSounds like the Hawk will be without Nick Foligno for a bit. Hope everything goes well for his family and his daughter has successful surgery.

ParticipantArty watch in win:
In the closing minutes, 1:43 left the hawks controlling in the attack zone a pass comes to #55 a few feet in the middle area zone off the blue line, an he receives a pass as an opposing player is converging, he attempts this puck move to get it to the other Hawk player near that blue line, but his stick motion send the puck off target and out of the zone.
What words describe that stick work?
Broom stick swirl?
Rod hockey twirl?(?) You guys KNOW the play #55 attempted right?

ParticipantYea it is nice to see, another player who fits the KD mold is Burakovsky i never realized he actually plays defense, i liked how Blashill rewarded those hard working guys on the PP and it paid off.
I don’t know if they’ll be able to bring this for 78 more games but if they do it’ll be a fun season to watch.
Yea, the effort and hunger they’ve opened the season with will be to/impossible to maintain for 78 more games, but, maybe closer to it than we might think…. I’m really bought into this competition for roster spots that maybe makes this team better than the sum of its parts. And these are blue chippers and 2nd rd guys battling so it’s high level. …. And they haven’t started a RKF shuffle yet where guys like Moore and Lardis will get look sees bringing more hunger and internal compete.
Going into the season most, or many, thought Moore and Del Mastro would make the roster. KK? Was it better than 50/50 that Greene would make the roster? … Point is lotsa known unknowns meaning it could be anybody, 2-3 deep, will win an NHL roster spot, at least for a spell.
Buraqkovsky may be a kinda wild card. Top 6 minutes, 2nd unit PP, skating with Bedard and he just might be his best season of 61 pts…. For whatever reason he has never popped commensurate to his skilled hands, skating, IQ and size. He should really gel with Bedard due to his high IQ even even more so than his physical skills. …Some preseason 10-11 yrs ago I was tuned into WSH when Burakovsky was getting a look as young prospect, maybe 19. Dude jumped out right away and I followed him closely for fantasy purposes.from then on. … Without diving into his fancies he shows middle 6 production at .54 points per, but man, as you can see he has some real skills. .. I’m excited every time he hits the ice.
And yea, I must not have ever thought he was poor defensively cuz I remember stuff like that but like you, even after following him for a decade, I don’t remember him being this good defensively. Or as fast as he is.. Whether he stays consistent, competes every shift, flys around the ice, stays hungry like he has all season long, we’ll see. Gotta be a reason he averages just a 1/2 point per over 700 NHL games cuz it ain’t skill.

ParticipantI agree that this seasons ups and downs might have a few more ups than the others in teh rebuild.
I will be happy as every new face gets battle-tested and then understands the way, and goeas about becoming part of the pro game with other guys with the like minds to win together.
I still look with hopes to win this lottery, whether we are 6th from te bottom or dead last.
I will say I may have been on point in my mock draft to have Islanders second rounder as an early second rounder.
So much to like in long term developers, so much there.
Meanwhile the Roman and Sacha arrive, raring to go as pros.
Lil Frankie and bedsy MAY end up as wingers as the grand scheme unveils itself….

ParticipantAnd if Mikhelev keeps playing the way he does, I wouldn’t be able to trade him, i was so impressed with his effort and defensive play vs the Habs.
You know Dots, Mikhayev has the same speed as Nazar and is a few in taller and 25 lbs heavier. And he showed us last yr on some in alones against he’s got some nifty hands too. .. In 350 NHL games he’s at .47 pts per games. ……. Not at Burakovsky’s skill level butt this guy has blazing speed and good size. ….. On this team when consistent he’s a middle 6er that checks some boxes with the ability to take some top 6 minutes and not be outa place.
He fits, will be interesting to see what Blashill can get out of him. And like Danoto he when he jumps over the boards no matter what line he’s on coach knows what he’s gonna get. Mikyhayev gives the coach a lotta flexdibility.
