Oh and by the way it took 60 games to get to 43 points last season.
They are 17 games ahead of schedule.
They need 9 wins to match last year’s point total in 39 games.
I’d say that’s pretty good progress, and the crazy thing is, which i don’t expect, if they make a playoff run they have 2 rookies that may be joining us at the end of the season. 2 more in the Rock,
That’s a great spot to be in after KD traded players to get 3 first round picks in 2022.You know SFG i don’t cheer about the moves he makes, what i do appreciate is they make sense, this is the first time the franchise has ever had a plan in place and stuck to it.
Like your example in the 2000s there was no plan it was blind dumb luck they built a SC team with so many moving parts in the front office.

By declaring that trading away 2 recent 1st round picks is nothing suggests you are not aware of how valuable a 1st round pick is.
Is it too much to expect a return in line with Danton Heinen and draft picks (a 2026 2nd and 2027 3rd rounder) for the 2 former 1st rounders combined?
His teams have finished 31 or 32 every year he’s been GM. How many years more years of the bottom are you going to allow to see what comes? Answer that question with a specific year in which the team makes a long playoff run.
Seth Jones won the Cup, made the Olympic team, and was having a solid season until he got hurt. Knight’s start was amazing, he’s come back to earth since. The Hawks are still paying $2.5 of Jones. I am going to allow time to see what comes of whatever this trade turns out to be before declaring KD the new Sam Pollock.
I too remember people writing about toughness back on HB in those times. I thought those teams were tough enough and the poster was wrong. No toughness no Cup went overboard. You probably think that Tallon deserves all the credit for his drafting of Duncan Keith. Even though Keith was drafted by Smith.The pro-Davidson crowd cheers every move he makes. The take on the latest move is that the Hawks have to clear roster spots for all their prospects. If this is the motivation, I guess there is no point in hoping for Free Agents in the summer or trades of prospect/picks for players that can help now. I wonder what the improvement here would have been if Davidson had signed Orlov, Dvorak, and Jenault in the offseason to augment the current roster. I thought that would have been a reasonable move that would have bought time for the prospect to patiently develop in the AHL while winning more at the NHL level. The teams that signed them are rebuilding and are ahead of the Hawks in the standings at the same time. Grier in particular is likely to be the GM of the year if they eek into the playoffs. The returns for 2 former first rounders is underwhelming. Hard to believe the return could have been less. One of the results of going to the WJC in Minnesota is seeing how many good prospects the other teams have in the pipeline while their NHL rosters are currently ahead of the Hawks. Washington, Montreal, and San Jose have some studs on the way amongst others. I am not sure what Allan will ultimately become but in his defense I believe he has played under 5 NHL head coaches and at least 4 AHL head coaches since he was drafted.
Actually the Blackhawks KFC started their rebuild after SJ, Habs Ducks and if you take a deeper look at all those teams what are they missing that the Blackhawks aren’t, a stable of legitimate young defenseman.
Habs had to go the route of trading 2 first round futures to secure a good defenseman.
SJ only has a 2 to 3 promising young Dmen.

Everyone including you says you can’t build through the draft and I’ve always said no NHL has really given it a 100% chance until now.
If you want instant gratification go buy something. And the best part is we have 7 first round picks developing while those other teams that are ahead of us only have 3, so no depth for those teams. 2 more next year.

Ooops Hawks traded one to meet the salary floor. I think the Hawks have interesting prospects and other teams do as well. Hard to tell who is going to be better till they start playing with and against men. It is unclear how any of them develop. Rinzel was hyped as coming in on the top D pair. He was rushed. Frondell, Nestrasil, Spellacy, and Kansterov are all going to be projected as top 6 forwards for next season and all of them would benefit from a year in Rockford or stay where they are.

I saw where you were pining for Seth Jones without acknowledging KFC got out from under a bad deal and somehow got the Panthers to send the Hawks Spencer Knight. You’re the same type of poster I watched over at HB cry and scream about how weak and soft the Hawks were in the wake of the 2010 Cup while all they did was go on and win two more.

You’re not sure what Allan’s ceiling is yet this is a horrible trade. I said it yesterday, that this is pretty much a nothing trade and figured you’d be here bemoaning the deal in your typical sad sack way. Allen and Reichel were first round picks. So what?
