ParticipantGreat blog as usual
I agree with what Mash said on the blogs comment section (kinda weird to have 2 comments sections IMO).
Dach will have all the time in the world to prove that he belongs. He’ll also be in better shape…that should help
you’re weird

ParticipantI feel like Joshua Roy may not make this team, unless injuries a lot in our faces
A year ago, everyone saw Roy as a sure thing to make the lineup, either on a third line role and perhaps could slot into the top 6.
It’s fair to say his preparation, training camp and overall results in the AHL last year were simply not good enough to justify him being in the NHL, even when injuries occured.
It’s a very important year for Roy. He has more competition for the few spots available with the Habs with guys like Kapanen, Beck, Xhekaj and Blais all hoping to make the team.
I always liked Roy, I think he has enough talent to be a NHL player but he has alot of work ahead of him to make management forget about last year.

Considering the comments on the actual blogs need to be approved by a moderator, it’s easier to interact on the forums.
But yeah, Mash made a great comment. He’s bang on.

Sometimes I get a feeling certain players have a window to make it.
Seems to me perhaps Roy missed his window, lots of players coming up / in that fit better in specific roles (ie: Mini WiFi, Beck, etc), add Bulduc, and he is not in a good spot right now.
Not giving up on him, but the only path I see for him in 25/26 is if the Habs somehow get rid of Laine, he might have a spot in the top 9.

ParticipantWell the quoting system is bugged for now :D.
There is a spot somewhere in the lineup for a young forward if all things remain as they are. Maybe it’s Roy but I think Kapanen has the upper edge, if only because he can also play centre.
I’ve been trying to make up lines with our current forward group…. Laine is certainly a problem at 5 on 5… you want to give him good enough linemates so he can use his wicked shot but they need to be good enough defensively to compensate how terrible he is.
It’ll be interesting to see if St-Louis decides to simply replace Dvorak by Evans between Gallagher and Anderson. He might need to split them up to balance things out.

ParticipantCaufield, Suzuki, Slaf
Bolduc, Dach, Demidov
Gallagher, Newhook, Anderson
Kapanen ,Evans, Laine
extras: Roy, Beck, Xhekaj, BlaisBolduc should compete with Laine at camp to play on that 2nd line.
I think this is mtl centre line in the right order as we speak, but that could be another battle to watch for at camp.
Like Scabeh said, guys like Roy, Beck, Kapanen, Xhekaj and Blais will fight for the 12th and 13rd spots.
I assume Laine is on this team if they cant move him but you never know.

if they want to stay in the mix they better play Beck and or Kapanen on that 4th line otherwise they’re toasted.

Neither of them are that important to this team. That 2nd line will have much more ice time and the 4th wont see a lot of minutes most of the nights. Those guys will play on the pk if they can, but not much at 5 on 5.
Dobson is much better than Savard, Bolduc is much better than Eineman, Demidov is much better than Armia (who started on the 2nd line last season). Dobes should do much better than Primeau, he did last season.
Again, this is a much better team than what we had last season. Bruins will be garbage, Toronto lost Marner. Most improved team in the East? I think so, even if the Panthers were able to keep their key guys.
Kids will have to earn their spot. A lot of them are pushing to play in the NHL. The pressure will be on them, not on this team. Not anymore.
They gave away a spot or tried to to Roy last season. See the result? Thats why you let them fight.
