JTM was problem A but now they ned to get rid of the rest of the problem. If EP doesn’t have a very good year he is going to get eaten alive by the fans and the media and that again is a distraction.
Its early but I think the fans will endear themselves to Buium. They’ll see someone who cares, I’m sure Rossi will come out flying as well. I don’t think pressure from the fans or media will bother EP40.

Again I am going to sayI think he signed when he was trending down. So many people were upset when he signed because he was trending down for a large stretch. If he was trending up people would have been excited. I know I was super pissed when he signed it. I thought what a huge mistake.
There was talks about him going to Carolina, You don’t trade your best player on the team if he is having a great year unless you know you can’t re-sign them. The offers for Petey were weak so they decided to sign him long term.
Both Him and JTM were slumping and they got rid of JTM and people were hoping EP was soon out the door but instead PA or FA or JR screwed up
It was definitely more urgent to rid the team of JT Cancer before he did any more damage or hurt one of the staff in his temper tantrums….

It wasnt after the contract was signed. His first half of Jan was so hot that the month totals still look good but that was the month it started. Right after the big east coast road trip post holidays is when he started to fall off. Lower points in Feb to follow.
I am going to disagree. He was in a slump over a year if I remember correctly. Otherwise people would not have been pissed if he was an 85 point player. I don’t remember exactly when but it seems like after the all star game he started his decline.
I don’t think he will be a Canuck too much longer. IMO he is a back story now. I look at him as a future 2/3 centre.
I think after he signed his deal he lost his passion/interest for hockey. If the Canucks are lucky enough to be able to unload him it would be a huge win.
He actually had like 21 points in 13 games in January 2024 and 13 points in 12 games in December, something like that, it was after the deal was signed he went into a slump. Mid March or something like that he went into a 10 or 15 game goal-less drought. Then he was so bad in the playoffs. Probably when he mentally started to checkout from the bullying – lol. I’ll find his stats from that year and link it below.

Petey signed his contract about 2 months into that slump. He went from career hot streak early in the season to a career slump the rest of the season.
Petey will eventually get traded to LA. It feels like he’s easing himself into it and the team is is in no rush. They will get a good deal on a good 2 way forward. Not a star… but he’s not getting paid star money anymore it appears. The return wont be great but will contribute to the rebuild. I think once they have a C to take his spot, like one of the draftees or a later acquisition, they will pull the trigger. Maybe next summer…
