Depends 1st on what Buium wants. 3yr still a RFA or 5yrs going into UFA or 8yrs max term.
My guess is if Buium wants to be the leader like he was at DU he’ll sign 6yrs. Keep open the option for 1 last big pay day. If the Canucks cannot get 7 or 8yrs imo they do a 3yr bridge deal. That’ll cost them the next contract big time if Buium becomes a star.

If they were willing to give him big bucks and lock him down for 8 years, I think it would have been done by now. This is a tough one. Has he shown enough for that? Is it too risky to give him shorter term opening the door for a much bigger pay day and closer to UFA? Is it best to wait out the most of or all of the season to get a better idea?
He has a ton of skill and is only 20. His age is a valid excuse for and defensive flaws we’ve seen to a certain degree… then there was how bad the team was. He has lots of time to work on the D side of the game and things should be more stable moving forward.
What do you think is a fair contract for Zeev?
