Bill Meltzer
ParticipantI think he will ultimately sign a bridge deal that will expire a year ahead of UFA eligibility.

Interesting, because the first I think I thought was that he may be angling for an offer sheet.

He got the Rasmus Ristolainen deal, and is a much better player (even if he is still a work in progress). Definitely a good deal by Briere.

ParticipantCan we say the era of ridiculous contracts may be coming to an end?
No mention of no trade or movement clauses in the deal?July 7, 2025 at 1:15 pm #15304MBFlyerfan1
ParticipantSurprisingly good deal and term.

ParticipantThe number on this deal is so good, I’m even more disappointed the Flyers didn’t get a bona fide Top 4 Dman on UFA day.

Danny shot his wad… no more money to spend. In fact, was reading earlier that they’re now over the cap (though they can put Ellis on LTIR, something they’ve not done the past couple of seasons).

Can’t complain too much since Danny weaponized the cap space to help the rebuild

ParticipantWhen they waive Fedotov and send him to LV, the ca. $1.1M they can bury will put the Flyers back below the cap ceiling. They could also LTIR Ellis or, depending how time he misses, do so temporarily for Ristolainen. Using LTIR is never ideal. But they have things they can do.
