not one game in and you are already complaining about him? lol

He will get some ice time with all the injuries, thats why he is here.

St-Louis already said it would be in a defensive role.

I could see him between Gally and Andy (Pete!).

Just need to get his confidence back. Would be nice to see the fans cheering for him and not crapping all over him, but whatever. You have the right to your opinion and voice it all you want.

Just said he should expect to play bottom 6 minutes, but has shown to be unhappy with that numerous times, and hope he does not cause problems about that.

Also I think a 2nd is overpay, but if Evans is injured, that might not be so bad insurance (and better than other options out there).

IF you wanna twist that all over the place to something more than I have said, then go ahead – that can be your Christmas present from me to you.

    Have a good day.

After his tantrum when he did not get what he wanted out of Montreal, yes, I did say good riddence.

Before he whined about it, I wanted him back

    “tantrum”, wtf
    😂

I had Laine on the fourth line or in the stands before the season began. I know Laine is injuried right now, but still. Would you put him in mtl top 6?

Don’t think he ever plays another game for the Habs.

That would be my guess, unless they want him on the 4th line with some pp time here and there. And thats with all the injuries.

He has a good shot. The end.

why is mini wifi playing in Laval by the way? Not ready for the NHL?

They need help to improve the PK, they got it

They need help in team defensive play, they got it

They need help with face-offs, particularly from the left, they got it.

And he is someone that has played on Montreal and knows what the pressure is like.

I just hope he will accept his role as a bottom 6 player and not pout about lack of power play or offensive opportunities… he is known to be a whiner that way and that just kills the vibe of a dressing room.

Overall, this is a low risk trade, if expensive, that does not have long-term implications associated to it such as the other options you mentioned.

I’m not too worried about that to be honest.

Danault isn’t at the same spot he was in his career when he left Montreal, and he certainly hasn’t played the same role with the Kings.

Back in 2020-2021, you could understand him, getting close to free agency, being frustrated with not getting any powerplay time as he was able to get around 50 points without it. Add to that the fact he was, mostly by default, our most productive centre and you have the perfect cocktail for a player to ask/want more quality icetime. Unfortunately for him, his best use was more on the PK and it followed him in LA despite getting a little powerplay at first over there.

In the end, Montreal traded Jordan Harris for Patrik Laine and Philip Danault…. which is an absurdly good return when you phrase it like that.

oh come on, I just find it funny how we’re comically far apart on how we perceive this, that’s all lol.

Laine is truly a headcase for me…. He’s the kind of guy that would play in the Olympics for Finland but somehow I still don’t want him on my team as he fits nowhere.

Maybe there’s a team out there, desperate for scoring and ready to give him a shot that would take him off our hands for a minimal return…. but I doubt it.

He’s supposed to come back healthy at some point this year and I’m guessing he’ll play some games. But I don’t expect his leash to be very long unless our powerplay somehow starts doing terribly and he’s seen as the solution.

Read this trade tree all started with a 9th round draft pick in 2003 (Halak) and follows down through the Halak / Eller trade…

    🤣

    These things go on forever.

you too! I did say you had the right to your opinion, so do I.

I like the move, maybe some dont. We will see. A late 2nd is not that much unless you get lucky (see Lane Hutson)

guys, what is old quebec and how far away from you is it?

Well it’s in the middle of Quebec city… so about a 2h20 drive away from where I live.

Why? Are you coming to visit?

    Trade trees are neat.

Just like how trading Plekanec to the Leafs for a few months somehow gave us Lane Hutson.

Oh it’s very beautiful, especially in winter imho.

If he’s looking for a decent burger place, I’m a big fan of “Chez Victor”.

Part of Quebec City, it is really fun to hang around and walk in the summer, but it is a little more special in winter (when snowy), especially around Christmas time.

Lots of interesting places in the lower part of the city too.

I have really enjoyed the times I went there for short vacations.
