Also, just a PSA about WordPress and plugins: make sure you are regularly updating it, plugins especially. WP Security, WordFence, etc. are good add-ons, as is CloudFlare for botnet protection.

Have you looked at this? Been around for a long time.

I have no idea what that is and I’m very unfamiliar with WordPress but if you have suggestions to improve the site, there’s a thread in the “locker room” section where you can share it.

I’m not involved in how the site works (which is a good thing), I only contribute as a poster/blogger 🙂

Right now, the only way is to copy/paste the quote and use “B-Quote” on it.

We’re still at the early stages of this website so I’m sure it’ll improve sooner than later.

According to the media, Tre had been shopping Marner since last off season, no one wanted him without an extension…marner wasnt gonna sign one.
I agree Tre isnt that great at making trades, his past deadline moves were huge overpayments…mainly the laughton one.

Thing is, trying to trade Marner only after his no-trade clause kicked in was a waste of time. I don’t blame Tre for it, it’s all on Shanahan, but once he was stuck with him, I guess he did overpay on the short term trades to make sure he’d have one last chance at winning with the “core 4”.

I did like the Carlo trade though, that’s a useful player moving forward regardless of the cost.

No 1st round picks until 2028
Outside of Cowan, no real high prospects (maybe danforth?)
The player who leads in point most year in reg season, but doesnt show up when it counts in games 5-7 is probably walking for free.
Captain is pretty soft, often injured during the playoffs and doesnt seem to hate to lose.
A bunch of ok FA’s who are gonna want to be overpaid this offseason.

    Leafs look………………….like the leafs.

The entire hockey world says Marner is walking, for free.

Organizational failure of epic proportions. Management disaster.

Tree is part of that. Yes he only had a few weeks to make a tough decision on the core. But he ultimately walked the team to where they are now. No one has ever had the stones to make a tough decision in this era. Now? Best of luck to Tree and the management. They’re going to need it. I’m not super optimistic Tree can make chicken salad out of this. He got completely schooled at the deadline. Look at what Florida did, and what he did. His record does not give me a ton of be-leaf.

“The stones to make the tough decision” is currently to keep Marner, let Tavares walk and get Rielly to waive his NMC.

There is no way this team is better next year by losing a 100 point player and keeping the defensive garbage that is Tavares and Rielly. Whatever the Toronto screaming mob is saying, doing the complete opposite is usually the best course of action.

There seems to be a consensus that Morgan Rielly is the DNA that needs to be moved. Treliving needs to look at a West Coast team, cut a deal, then present the trade proposal to Rielly to drop his no movement clause. Vancouver seems logical, since it’s home and he might consider it. Maybe a second rounder coming back and the rights to Brock Boeser. Leafs can offer an 8 year for Boeser if he chooses to sign here. -Prince

Why the fuck would you ever want to sign Boeser to an 8 year deal when he was a 50 point, -25 player last year? A 1 year deal. Okay. Try it out. 8 years for that garbage? The fuck are you thinking? You would literally be trading Rielly’s contract to immediately replace it with another terrible contract. Just a bad, bad idea.

LeBrun reported that Rielly is not waiving his no trade. These guys like LeBrun just don’t say stuff for $hits and giggles. They do have reputations. -fifty

LeBrun is irrelevant. Every player that has been given a NMC and waived it disagrees. If management tells him, they do not want him anymore, he will come up with a short list of teams he prefers. Even if it’s only 2 or 3 teams, it’s still more than 0. Rielly won’t waive for any team, but he will waive for a few specific teams. And they need to get him to waive it as soon as possible. He should be gone before the draft.

We shouldn’t care about anything that the talking heads have to say. They’re part of the reason that this team can’t succeed. Treliving needs to just tell them to pound salt and do what he knows needs doing. The Leafs cannot win with Morgan Rielly. Hence, he must be moved. If he won’t go, then he can sit out the whole year or buy a new condo on Robidas Island. Ever since he got hooked up with his now wife, the figure skater, he’s now domesticated. Same goes for Marner. He’s a family man now and the team doesn’t come first. It’s why both need to be moved.
