If Matthews plays 70+ games, he will score 50 again. no worries

yeah the insiders are really outside on the Leafs rumors

Guess McKenna isn’t getting drafted by the Leafs either because that was another “leak”.

Jim Hiller the next bench boss.

    Didn’t see that one.

Because Chayka is so out in left field the shit he does is stupidly unpredictable.

Just hired an assistant under Babcock who has never won anything as a coach in 23 years and never won a playoff round in the NHL as a head coach.

Another Berube style, bunker defense, low offense coach. Absolutely horrible hire which will only hurt the value of the Leafs best assets when it’s time to blow it up.

One thing can be said about the Chayka/Sundin combo, there are no leaks. No one saw the trade coming, yesterday. No one saw this coaching hire today either. I guess all of the turnover in the front office has sealed the leaks and now all of the press is in the dark about future moves. The draft is coming and I’m intrigued if they’re going to be proactive at the draft. The last number of years, you could mail it in because they had no draft capital to speak of. It’s starting to look like bodies will be moved and probably before free agency. Once the Marlies are done, some of those players may be traded or promoted. It appears that the Leafs are also after cap space, either for free agents, and, or taking on bad contracts for draft picks. That would make more sense, if you’re rebuilding on the fly. The next 4 weeks is going to tell the world which way the Leafs are going to be moving.

    My trade proposition

To San Jose: Rielly + Ersson
To Toronto: Avs’ 2nd rnd pick 2026 + unsigned prospect or San Jose’s 4th rnd pck in 27.

They could have got more for Woll, but I can see why they needed to move him. Artur Akhtyamov is ascending rapidly towards the NHL. He’s already passed Hildebly on the depth chart and the Leafs will need to add goaltending depth to the Marlies, hence Samuel Ersson. He could actually make the Leafs, if he gets an opportunity. We could also see Stolarz moving on if the deal is right. That cap space and opening a slot on the defense, appears to be the probability of at least 1 free agent defenseman. If the Rielly for Nurse trade comes to be, the Leafs defense will look quite different next year. Something tells me that Marlies coach John Gruden might be high on the list to be the next Head Coach. It’s about to get interesting, once the Marlies finish their playoff series with Chicago. Up 3 – 0, it looks like it’s getting to be soon over. Akhtyamov appears to be the real deal. Lets see if he can translate this into being an NHL caliber starter.

Andrae porjected around 2mil, which is fine. Ersson may not be qualified or be depth cheap who cares.
still 3mil to put to better use.

Chayka drafting 6-8 years ago is not really important in 2026, he just needs to put the right people in place. thats very much up in the air still

It absolutely is important because that’s his track record. His track record was shit and should have disqualified him from being GM. At best, he’s an assistant GM given his failure in Phoenix.

But again, like Shanahan lorded over Dubas, Chayka is probably the bitch to Sundin because Sundin is calling the shots despite having zero experience and away from the game for 17+ years.

The right people working for the Leafs is a tall order that usually goes unfilled.
