I’m willing to bet that after the first season without the NHL we will see Carney, a true businessman liberal (like or hate him), will begin to cut it even harder. All I’m saying is the current PM has cut money, and now the only real reason the station was worth anything has come to an end, so now I’m truly curious to see how the budget will look once the government can look at the viewership without HNIC (it’s going to fall hard), use the numbers, and cut it with justification, even for their own voters.
My guess is we will see it for 2027-28 again, to ride through one year without hockey, but for 2028-29 (surprise surprise, the same year Carney’s game plan is supposed to bloom) they’ll have the argument that next to nobody is watching the station now that HNIC is gone and they will have a year of numbers to prove it.
