yes its me 2050Participantthe state of the team is the same since wharton certificate boy took over, and even before.
They are not a good team. They have no plan to become a good team. They have no path towards cup contention.
As far as Thomas, he will not waive to come to Philly. There will be many suitors for his services. He would have zero reason to come to philly.
Anyone who has faith in wharton boy or “jonesy” needs their head examined. Fact is its very bleak. nothing has changed
crazy thing is they are still very much in the playoff race. couple games out.
Blame Bettman and the OT point rules. It is hard to be out of the playoff race at this point in the year unless you are committed to the tank.
I still can’t believe they’ve only scored 2 goals in 18 OT periods. That may be a record and yesterday’s OT was incredibly bad. Maybe they should try something different, like Michkov.I can when you play dvorak and cates

ParticipantThe only realistic way they get a “top six” C, let alone a #1 center is to trade for one. Im hoping they can identify a team that lacks wing depth and maybe find a need for need trade. Tippett for Wright has been mentioned. Robert Thomas has been mentioned but I think the Flyers would really have to pay an uncomfortable price for the Blues (and Thomas) to consider it. I’m talking Michkov or Martone. (plus that NTC, cap hit and term)
I wonder if something like Tippett and Toronto’s 1st gets you Wright and a pick or prospect from Seattle? Maybe Julius Miettinen? Is Jake O’Brien (instead of Wright) available? These are the kinds of deals Briere is “hopefully” pursuing.
Who knows, maybe they keep falling and get a realistic chance to draft someone like Tynan Lawrence or Caleb Malhotra.
I think i read from one of the beats that the Flyers have no interest in Wright?
Either way they have a log jam in center. Assuming they resign Zegras and plan to use him as a center, he will get a NMC because Flyers. That leaves you with 3 C with NMC for the next 3 years (Dvorak, Coots, Zegras). That doesn’t include Cates who is on a 4 year extension. What do you do with the existing centers, most of which are unmovable? The Flyers already have too many middle six wingers for next year. Unless Wright ends up being a #1 center you are worse off than before with 5 centers who aren’t the answer and no place to put another if you can find one.
I don’t know. The Flyers roster construction is batshit crazy and DB wants to lock everybody up to keep the crazy train rolling.

It is crazy they’re still in the race, a very long shot now, after going 3-8-4 in their last 15 games since the ANA game. They were 22-12-7 the first half of the season.
Seeing talk from Canadian media that Konecny and Tippett could go with the right return. Konecny is a .95 PPG player over the last 4 seasons and is proved durable. Tippett is big, can skate, averages 27 goals per 82 games over the same 4 seasons and is more durable than Konecny. The Flyers need more size up front, not less. People gripe about the lack of production from the center spots. They aren’t wrong but these two guys are delivering without it. Package better be extraordinary. Need a proven #1/2 C or a Top 4 Dman to consider it.
WTF is tippet delivering? he is an underwhelming 20 something goal scorer. A solid depth piece. nothing more. certainly not a core player.
Briere is too scared to ask tK to waive and also has no interest in moving him. Briere is a putz. TK can help any team and one has to hope him and his BFF ask out. I doubt it as both are comfortable as hell in the current situation.

ParticipantWe can do the old joke about the fans yelling “shooooooot” at Jake Voracek every time he crosses the blue line, but this is a low-event and somewhat boring team. Typical for a Rick Tocchet squad, I guess.
The Flyers currently are 28th in shots, with 1,436 on the year. They’ have’ve allowed 1,438, which is 29th. They’ve score 162 goals and allowed 177, which is 23rd and 14th. Their 28th-ranked power play is 16.1% and the penalty kill is middle of the pack at 79.1%.
There’s just not a lot of action in most of these games. Their shot on goal differential is a flat 0.0. There was a play on Thursday night when Coots drove hard to the net and almost turned nothing into something, but they rarely force the issue and they just seem hesitant to get bodies in front and fire the puck into the mess. It’s not exciting hockey, but it’s better than a few perimeter passes and inevitably losing the puck. There was zero jam in the building on Thursday night.
This really seems spot on to me. This is a listless team which is a hard to watch. How do you sell fans on Tochey hockey (yea i borrowed that) that at times seems to be playing “prevent offense” (borrowed from the Patullo led Eagles)?
2 Goals in 18 OT games should get someone fired but we learned from Rocky’s employment the last few years that coaches have zero accountability and that’s just the way the FO likes it.This is excluding the part in the article where the Flyers have no realistic paths to 1F, 1D, etc now that DB/Jones were caught unawares regarding top players resigning because the cap went up.
