The dreaded NMC a big hinderance. We’ll see in this sellers market if soon or the TDL.

ParticipantI think it would be a mistake to sit pat *if* you can move a couple of vets this summer. Here’s my reasoning….
This summer is a serious sellers market. This is related mostly to a couple of things. Cap going up and a generational poor UFA market. This market will mostly happen during the summer and to be more accurate, from now to mid July. Canucks are legit sellers right now. Sellers sitting pat during a hot seller’s market is not wise.
I hear people saying wait to make trades because the draft is weak. You can still make trades for next years draft. No rules against that. So my common sense says make the trades during the hot seller’s market and get picks in next years draft if you can. My whole point is take advantage of this current opportunity. Canucks have a poor record of trying to execute their plans at the TDL. It could easily end up being another kick in the balls with the market or said players being injured or not wanting to move mid season as we’ve also seen in the past. Of course they can trade before the TDL, but same problems pretty much.
The Canucks need to make room on the roster. As it is right now, this is the roster that they finished the season with. A couple of free agents are leaving but they will need more roster spots for prospects and any cheap character type free agents they might add. They will need room for both.
If they start the season with the same roster they had in April… it will be hard to convince me that they are going full rebuild.

ParticipantAre you folks antsy to get in on the predraft trading or patience til values increase? As for me I’m torn both ways on one hand I’d like a no brainer offered up on the other focus on driving up values for future draft picks &/or prospects. Leaning to the latter since imo this draft weakens pretty fast after later on in the 1st.
My gut thinks a trade will happen if DeBrusk is open to more teams if he wants out badly. Can also see RJ waiting til DeBrusks NMC changers to a 15 team list next offseason if no great offers. Boeser isn’t til 2029

ParticipantLove it, Canucks can be patient, see where the dust settles and then move in.
Catbird seat maybe unless they stand pat. Short list given for a DeBrusk trade could go into the season or Canucks wait til next year when his NMC drops into a 15 team NTC list. Boeser 2029 for his 15 team list. EP full NMC.
