Leafs officially idiots.
Well senstroll I was wrong.
Many years ago I said to you marner would last longer as a leafs compared to nylander.
WRONG!!Looks like willy will outlast both Marner and Matthews.
Florida only has 4.9’million left in cap space after signing ekblad and 18 guys signed. Going to be tough for them to sign Marchand too.
They can’t afford more than $1M with some bonuses that count against next year. He’s gone.
They have 4.9 AAV, 9.4 if they dump Rodrigues and Boqvist.
It’s manageable.
Panthers would still have to trade somebody like Rodrigues to have enough space for Marchand who probably wants at least 7.
I’d bet Marchand is willing to take far less than $7M to run it back again.

I’d rather get something than nothing and Roy is a decent 3C option.
He’s bad at FOs. He’s a bad center. His last 2 most recent playoff runs were rather meh, 2 goals and 4 points in his last 18 playoff games, one brutal 5 min major vs. the Oilers in OT. There’s a reason Vegas is giving up on him. He’s the next Laughton.
So pretty much the same thing the leafs have been the whole time (outside of twice) Marner was here.
Compared to last year, will be worse. Instead of building, the Leafs are now deconstructing, losing pace with Florida that is going to be pretty much exactly the same while the Leafs go backwards.
