Turns out none of the players involved in this were actually suspended at all, I found a CBC article where in Feb Bettman said the league didn’t need to suspend as the players were all on leave from their teams and were free agents after this year. The article also stated that the players were all being paid while on this leave. I had no idea.
I also read a TSN article that the NHL has said the 5 players are ineligible to play while the league reviews the findings from the court case. That being said and as in the TSN article the NHL has allowed players to play in this same situation before – Jake Virtanen in 2022 was allowed to sign a PTO with the Oilers less than 2 months after his sexual assault court case where he was found not guilty. He didn’t make the Oilers and went back to Europe but that’s a bit irrelevant.
I think these 5 will be allowed to play it’s just a matter of when and if any team wants them. It very well may take longer than it did with Virtanen since it’s 5 players vs 1 and this situation received far more attention than the Virtanen one did.

I’ve been online since 1995 & was 1 of the 1st folks whom where a undocumented case of chat addiction. With that said, here’s the thing: Online & Offline society has changed soo much over the last decade if not 2 decades now.
Peaple whom have old school ideals that they where instilled into them by there parents in the past can not see the truths/realities that are in front of them in this day & age. ” Innocence ” is something that is RARE to find in a person period. It has been vanquished from society for at least a decade by bad parenting/social influence & etc. Today, most of societies mindset is ” Guilty till proven innocent ” & even IF your found to be innocent … your STILL punished by society cause of it.As for “evidence” … as I have seen/observed/experienced even myself on youtube … audio/video/photo’s can be edited/manipulated ( another bad thing about AI controlled apps ) to make someone to look guilty or say something they didn’t & push legal actions onto them in a vindictive manner. This in turn makes it harder to validate ” evidence ” for legal matters. This is where someone whom is a expert in human vocal mannerisms-body language is important to catch all the signs of someone being dishonest about something.
Futher to what the quoted person said … females have changed in MANY ways this last decade, they have became VERY deceptive & manipulated in what there intentions are. I’ll give you a prime example. A sex trafficing ring in hamilton was busted a few years ago .. guess who was the leader of it … a 17 y.o female. NOT a guy … a female AND on top of that a minor !! They know as a female & even more so them being a minor .. they can get away with just about anything without any concequences & ANY male no matter there age WILL be held response able.
At the end of the day, no matter the age/gender/sexual orientation .. no one should be allowed to physically/mentally/sexually abuse another individual. And if persons is given a chance to reform, does so sucessfully & shows they have … they should be given a second chance in life. If we should look at anything in this situation, it was how it was handled by team canada & futher to better procegures to collect evidence in events like this moving forward.

I’m kinda rambling here, but I think that an underlying theme to this whole trial is that many are uncomfortable with the idea that a young woman could be the sexual aggressor. There’s a disbelief that she could have wanted to have sex with multiple partners in a hotel room.
It’s an incredible double standard – would anyone blink if they heard of a 20 year old male who was happy to have sex with multiple female partners – all successful, incredibly fit athletes?

Yes, he’s younger, he’s bigger, he’s a fast skater, he’s still in his prime and he costs 25% of what Jarnkrok costs. Formenton was out of the league for a contract dispute and then this shit popped up, not because he’s a bad player. He came from the London Knights system, he’s a solid player on the 4th line and has scored 18 before so he can score too. Jarnkrok is broken, old, small, overpaid and useless in the playoffs. I’ll take the cheaper, younger, bigger, faster skater every day.
