It’s starting to look like the leafs are looking to use short term contracts this year unless it’s a core guy. As it stands 5 forwards are done after this year. I won’t be shocked if that’s all the leafs do to fill out the roster because there is nothing they currently see available that they consider a long term solution.

They’re in win now mode though, so I definitely could see them moving Cowan for the right player.

They’ve been in “win now mode” for 5 years. Time to re-access.
Besides, I think Cowan is part of their plans going forward….at least for this year.

My guess is that Robbie is a sign and trade as part of a top 6 deal. Toss Cowan in and we can hopefully pick up somebody good in their prime.

Honestly, the leafs simply cannot afford to lose any “high end” prospect they have left. Keep Cowan. This team isnt any closer to going a cup run as of today. Save your bullets.
I think Tre goes bargain bin shopping in the FA marker….maybe skinner, patches and nyquist on a year deals.
Dumping Kampf and reaves wont bring back anything….other than a late round pick.
Maybe adding Robertson…gets a player back with a pulse….not sure its a top 6 winger though.

I honestly cant see any of my replies.

Beggers can’t be choosers at this point. Leafs need to add some offense into the top 6 any way they can. JT or Roy can both play the wing if needed.

The talking heads are all saying nobody is selling. So the options are Ehlers …..or somebody’s bad contract (Kadri).

Or….dont make a bad trade for a long term mid range contract for a 33/34 year old.
I believe the leafs 1st they traded for Carlo is top 5 and 10 protected – gets booted to 2028. I think. If so, I dont mind if the leafs are completely garbage this year, get the 10th pick and save cap for next year.
Time to see if Matthews can really carry this team. Im not 100% sure he can.
    We’ll see.
Either way, dont make a bad trade simply because you are perceived to be in a “beggars” position.

Yeah they have a bit of space but they also need to sign Robertson, he should be cheap though. Kampf, Reavo, Jarnkrok could be moved.

Im hoping the Leafs make a trade to upgrade something, Robertson could be used with some other stuff.

So the Leafs have 5.8 in cap space.
but if you punt Kampf and remove Reaves, that bumps up to 9.5 or so

Weird spot for the Leafs to be, having lots of cap space
