ParticipantAre you seriously implying the current Philadelphia Flyers are in the same position as the Panthers and Oilers?
Edmonton was awful for years and have only been a top team the last four years. Florida has only been a top team the last four years. Edmonton absolutely built more through the draft. EDM has two Dmen they drafted, FLA only one. They drafted Ekblad, traded for Jones and the rest are free agents.

yes its me 2050Participantnot going to be surprised on bit if he is moved or signed. yes stating the obvious.
if moved and another D brought in is just spinning their wheels.
All this Byram talk, is he really that much better than JD? offensively yes. defensively? another guy with a past injury history who wants a long term deal.

ParticipantI know we keep hearing the Flyers really want to extend York, but it sure looks like the “For Sale” is out there. Just have a feeling he could be traded for another RFA- ho ideal who that could be. With a rising cap happening, if the reported York @ 6 million/yr long-term is a pretty good dead for the Flyers. That will be the going rate for 2nd pair Dmen. Sure seems to me they really would like to trade him.
If it’s an RFA trade, I’d take a closer look at Romanov but not sure the Isles would like that with Schaefer soon in the mix and Dobson wanting to get paid. That might be the reason for his rumored availability. If they do trade York, it opens a hole on an inadequate blue line. The Flyers need to add there, not subtract. York does need to step up. He may have an upside but I don’t think he’s proved $6M+ value. He’s a top pair guy here, but that’s a pretty low bar.

ParticipantI would be fine trading him, but would want a d man that is equivalent or a second line center. I don’t think he could get you a 1st line caliber center unless it’s a project.

ParticipantI would love York at 6 mil per year long term. That gives us a lot of flexibility as the team gets better. Any more and bridge him and make him prove it

ParticipantIf Sanheim is your #1, you are not a playoff team (which is pretty obvious at this point).
Jones is getting the most ice time in Florida, Bouchard and Nurse are the top pairing in EDM. DAL has a fine overall D but I’m not sure any one of their guys is all that much better than Sanheim, maybe Heiskanen. I like Slavin in CAR. Those are the Final 4 teams. The top teams have solid D corps, not one great guy.

ParticipantI’m happy with Sanheim as their #1 Dman. He’s likely in the Top 20 for Dmen in the league but they need a helluva lot more around him and behind him. He’d look even better if the Flyers had that. A Top 4 plug-in would move the needle for THIS team. Even FLA went out and traded for Jones at the deadline. — FlyerFrank

Participanttheir core is/was built on their draft picks. that is a 100% fact.
go flyers become the next panthers. you can do it.
why be a fan? I am at the point where I enjoy watching them fail more than win. that is what they have turned me into. all about the entertainment
Ekblad and Barkov are core players. That’s two guys. Lundell is an outstanding depth center who still has some upside. Now he’s a guy who could help the Flyers. They did use draft picks and players they drafted to get other key pieces together. I still wouldn’t come close to saying FLA was built on their draft picks.
