ParticipantIf by the end of this TDL he has
2 firsts this year draft
2 firsts next year draft
2 firsts in the ‘28 draftIt would be a homerun. Requires trading Trocheck which I’m not sure is a guarantee. Panarin definitely gets one of those tho.
Im not sure what is considered the best draft where teams insist on keeping that year
Its this one, 2026. Its been talked about for a couple years now as expected to be very deep.

Participanttj, before Fox and Shesty went down, we were still a .500 team, and we were like bottom 3-4 in the East.
We might not have been giving up much, but we also werent scoring.

ParticipantI wouldn’t want to trade Panarin or Trocheck to Minn. their prospect pool and picks are GUTTED. Stramel is in his 4th year in college with so so numbers. He’d be a fringe 3rd liner at best. Hard pass on a trade with Minn.
DET is the team we need to try and make a trade with, they’re loaded.
I just cant picture the Wings trading Danielson, not in a trade for Trocheck nor Panarin. Maybe if it was Trocheck and Cuylle or Perreault.

ParticipantA lot of Drurys decisions were cap related. And a lot of the problems stemmed from the Covid year. The cap stagnant really messed them up. It’s not an excuse it’s just fact. I don’t think Drury handled that well, to be fair to the haters. But he was under alot of pressure. Panarin 11 million really put them in a corner and snowballed into a mess pretty much
I just think now it’s different set of circumstances where the can be a lot less aggressive and spend more wisely. Dolan is a bigger problem than Drury imo. And there is nothing we can do about that, but I think Dolan has understood to back off some. Kind of like he did with the Knicks
I’m not trying to fight. I just want talk rangers and how to get better. They needed to do this as hard as it is to watch, last year included
Fact of the matter is, Drury has one way to approach the deadline. If hes not going after 1st round picks and high end prospects given the state of the team, not even you can keep defending him anymore. I know you want Robo, but it wouldnt be the right move to make.

ParticipantI think what they should do with Laf, once they trade Panarin, is move him to LW permanently. It’s his natural side. Trading him for essentially peanuts is not the way to go. They need to try something to unlock him. He has flashes but it’s so inconsistent. Stating the obvious but this could be affecting his development. Hot word in these parts
And side note, losses are better than wins. Going 0-30 is perfect
Well, trading LAF for Wright is probably the only right trade to make as things are currently. Especially if they move on from Trocheck. Other than that, I wouldnt bother moving LAF. Hes at his absolute lowest value wise and he has another year left on his contract thats unprotected.

ParticipantHas there been a situation where a top 5 pick who had to the point of the trade been a total disappointment, got traded and turned into a megastar?

ParticipantThis wasnt my trade btw. I happen to see it somewhere. But I think you’re right. They would need something else, maybe Hronek instead, and Schneider to vancouver
They need defensmen in SJ. They are hot after Schneider I read
They have some solid prospects in the minors I wouldnt mind giving a look to.

ParticipantThree way trade:
To Van- rangers 1st rder (top 5-6 protected) this year and Laf
To SJ EP40 and Schneider
To NYR Will Smith and Dickenson
Why would SJ ruin what they got going on to bring in EP40? What are they in a rush to do? Theyre developing that team the right way.

ParticipantI think I’m more tired of the players on this team than the front office. Maybe that’s where my disconnect is different then you guys. Get rid of all of them (older guys). My point regardless of buying selling retooling etc..you have to have older players to mentor players. Ie have Perrault play with Miller and Mika. You can’t have 20 players under 22 yrs old. Drury, for better or worse, wanted Miller and Gavrikov to be that new wave of older core players.
Moving forward- imo, Miller, Mika, Fox, Gavrikov and Shesty are the big tickets. Like they’re are all staying. Other guys need to be better (Cuylle, Laf, Schneider, etc) and add in some more youth in a variety of ways, draft right and sign smart contracts (like Trocheck was) and see what happens.
If they got Robertson I think we’d all feel much better about things. That’s the shot in the arm the fan base needs. I get the hate I do I just direct my hate elsewhere, it’s on the players not so much Drury. He gave them all 3 friggin coaches, a lot of money and they’ve been nothing but divas
You want Trocheck mentoring your young guys, not Miller. Thats what guys like Carrick, and Goodrow, are for. This is why I suggested getting Dumoulin and Grzelcyk, their experience, theyve played under Sully before and they would provide that short term stop gap as the younger Dmen develop.
When the attitude in the locker room absolutely stinks, its difficult for young players like Cuylle, LAF, Schneider, etc… to step up because its contagious. You need all 5 guys on the ice to work together, but if their heads arent in it, theres nothing you can do.
I dont want Robo if it costs us 1st round picks and our best prospects. This is a flawed team, all youre doing is replacing Panarin with Robo. More than anything, the team needs an attitude adjustment, they need a voice, a leader, someone to unify the team.
